An East Harlem drug ring that made more than $1 million a year peddling PCP/angel dust, heroin, and crack has been shut down by police. After an 18-month investigation, police arrested more than 30 gang members today around Harlem, including the two brothers who headed up the "extremely active drug sale business." So between this takedown, subway stabber Maksim Gelman's alleged use during his murder spree, and pro-skater Jereme Rogers' hotel freak out, does this mean angel dust is having a moment?
"Drug Kingpins" Busted For Angel Dust Drug Ring
Mama's Voodoo Magic Can't Save Drug-Trafficking Son From Getting Busted At JFK
Here's a little tale of motherly love gone awry. When a baggage handler who worked at JFK was busted for running a drug-trafficking ring, his mother flew to Africa to hire a shaman to put a voodoo curse on the prosecutor's handling the case. Kind of sweet, isn't it? But now they're both in some legal hot water that even a mystical hex can't fix.
Humble Harlem Coke Dealer Superimposed Face Onto Scarface
If you weren't already charmed by alleged cocaine kingpin Ceferino (Papo) Perez, who romantically had his wife work for his drug ring to earn a little money and self-worth, then you surely will be by his delightful choice of artwork. Perez was one of 22 people charged yesterday with being part of a massive cocaine ring that worked in East Harlem and the Upper East Side. And it seems Perez really let the coke trade go to his head.
Stripper-Turned-Med-Student Indicted In Park Slope Drug Ring
Pauline Wiltshire, everyone's favorite stripper-turned-med-student-turned-alleged-drug-dealer, was indicted yesterday on charges of conspiring to distribute the prescription drug Adderall. She is accused of selling thousands of the pills prescribed by her gambling anesthesiologist boyfriend to Park Slope residents. She faces 10 years in prison under federal law, and was also hit with a $30,000 forfeiture charge seeking proceeds from drug sales if she's found guilty. But currently, she's done what New Yorkers have been telling those they don't like for years, and gone back to Ohio.
Operation Ivy League Drug Ring Suspects Back In Court
The five Columbia students charged with running a drug ring out of school dorms and frats had another court appearance today where they were served up with a slew of new charges to add to their plate. The five students, along with their three alleged suppliers, had previously been charged with 30 counts ranging from drug possession to drug sales and criminal nuisance. Now that number has been upped to 65 counts (basically more of the same), based on all of the items that were seized from their dorm rooms.

Busted LI Drug Ring Ripped Off By NYC Drug Dealers
Suffolk police busted 18 members of a cocaine trafficking ring which included Bloods members, counterfeit money, backstabbing, and fake cocaine made from sheetrock and baking soda. Police seized about $16,000 to $18,000 worth of cocaine, several thousand dollars worth of counterfeit $20 bills, black and white hats and T-shirts labeled "Police," and a stun gun disguised as a cell phone. "The lifeblood of gangs is the illicit narcotics trade. The profits they generate contribute to other illegal activity...This is not just the sale and distribution of cocaine. It's far more than that," District Attorney Thomas Spota said ominously.
Park Slope Adderall Ring Nets Stripper-Turned-Med Student
Over the holidays, feds busted a Park Slope Adderall-trafficking ring, arresting at least one of the people who allegedly sold thousands of pills online which they had gotten from New York Methodist Hospital. And oh the colorful cast of characters involved: a gambling anesthesiologist, a stripper-turned-med student, a lawyer from Tennessee, and a greek chorus of mercurial hospital residents. It's basically Avenue Q come to life!
Facebook Makes Life Easy For Drug Dealers
Considering it was used by college kids for the first few years of its existance, is it any real surprise that Facebook has been a great tool for international drug rings? Luvman Allison has been indicted by Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn after allegedly using Facebook to arrange a heroin delivery through JFK Airport. The Ghanaian native allegedly "explicitly discussed the methods he uses to covertly transport narcotics" over the website, so clearly he's not too familiar with their lax privacy settings.
A Photo Tour of the Columbia University Drug Dens
The NYC Special Narcotics Prosecutor's Office last night released photos taken as part of the "Operation Ivy League" raid on alleged Columbia drug dealers earlier this week—and they don't exactly help the kids' case. (We do appreciate the Cognitive Neuroscience book found in Michael Wymbs' room.) Meanwhile two of the five Columbia students charged with running a drug ring out of the Ivy League school's dorms and frat houses have posted bail, while the remaining three are locked up in separate cells in the Manhattan Detention Facility (initial reports had said they would be sent to Rikers—and they still could go there if they don't post bail). When the Daily News asked one of the free kids, Christopher Coles, about the bust cops called Operation Ivy league yesterday he told them that "this whole thing has been exaggerated. It's been blown up to the umpteenth."

Rap mogul Kareem “Biggs” Burke, one of the co-founders of Roc-A-Fella Records, was among 43 people arrested today in a massive marijuana wholesale ring based in New York and Florida. The 18-month investigation into the ring resulted in nearly $2 million in seized profits and 360 pounds of marijuana. Along with Burke, another notable bust was Matthew Stang, a writer and senior ad rep at High Times magazine. "In the case of the High Times employee, it’s a case of art imitiating real life," said Jim Hayes special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Tween Drug Dealer Spends 13th Birthday In Jail
The 12-year-old drug dealer arrested on Wednesday during a massive drug raid in Queens turned 13 behind bars. The Daily News reports, "Sources said the girl, whose name was withheld, hung out after school with some older girls at the Almeda Ave. apartment of one of the men in the drug crew. The other girls smoked pot and had sex with the dealers in exchange for drugs and pocket money. But while the 13-year-old - who looked older than her age - didn't have sex with the men, she was sent out to peddle drugs for them." Cops only found out her age when her mom came to the station house.

'We were very shocked to find out' her age."
Riverdale Heroin Bust Results in 31 Arrests

The Bronx DA says an "overwhelming" number of those arrested were members of the Latin Kings.
Cops Nab 28 In West Side Drug Bust
Police arrested 28 people—including three high school students—in a cocaine and crack bust in a housing project near Lincoln Center. The suspects are accused of selling drugs inside the Amsterdam Houses—a complex of 13 buildings between 61st and 65th streets, and Amsterdam and West End avenues, the Post reports. After Amsterdam Houses residents began complaining about seeing drug transactions and drug paraphernalia, officers launched an investigation and observed more than 50 drug deals in five different buildings since July. Officials told the tabloid that dealers used students who lived in the complex as "look-outs and dealers-in-training." According to the indictment [Word document], 12 of the suspects were charged with selling controlled substances near a school.
Prescription Drug Ring Linked To Corey Haim's Death
Corey Haim's death is currently under investigation following a link authorities found to an "illegal and massive prescription drug ring." The ring allegedly orders the prescription pads using stolen doctor identities and sells them to addicts and dealers. An unauthorized prescription in Haim's name was found during an ongoing probe of fraudulent pads, and CNN was told it was "very recent, and it involves Oxycontin and we're not talking just 40 pills, more than that."
Gambling Park Slope Doc Ran Adderall Drug Ring
Feds have busted a Park Slope anesthesiologist accused of writing Adderall prescriptions for phony patients, who filled them and sold the study drug on the streets. The doctor, Michael Hosny Gabriel, may have used his profits to fund a gambling habit. He “carried large sums of cash to Atlantic City” one informant told the Feds, adding that the medical man kept a gun in his bedroom. And though Dr. Gabriel was the Adderall ring's kingpin, he had help: the Daily News says other doctors at his Brooklyn hospital are also implicated in the case.
Cop Traded Inside Info for Warm-Up Suit
Today a former NYC police sergeant pleaded guilty to using an NYPD computer to get inside information for a crack dealer while on-duty. The pusher suspected he was being followed by law enforcement and asked his cop friend Roosevelt Green—who's since retired from the force—to get him license plate information. Unfortunately for him, the sergeant's punishment, six months behind bars, far exceeds the payment he received for his misdeed: a warm-up suit and a pair of sneakers. The dealer and 14 other members of his drug ring await sentencing, according to AP.
Toys for Tots Drug Smuggling
Nine people were arrested for allegedly smuggling cocaine inside children's toy packaging. NY1 reports that "four kilograms of cocaine, four handguns, and more than $86,000" during the investigation. The suspects pleaded not guilty to charges including drug possession and money laundering; a prosecutor said, "We're investigating whether they were paid in cocaine." One employee worked in a check-cashing facility, and it's believed he laundered hundreds of thousands of dollars there, and the ringleader allegedly wired the money back to Puerto Rico. As for the smuggling, the DEA says kilos of coke were "concealed inside children’s toy tool boxes and large building toy container boxes" and then "the organization used United States Postal Service Express Mail to make deliveries to drop off addresses in Manhattan and the Bronx."
