Our Casting Picks For The Real Housewives Of Westchester

Our Casting Picks For The Real Housewives Of Westchester

Earlier today, we learned that two suburban Westchester moms are campaigning to get their town its very own piece of the Real Housewives pie. While we have no earthly idea why Mary Amy and Nora Holmes would wish such a fate upon their town of Rye, they've been meeting with creative directors and posting Craiglist casting ads seeking ladies for an "ultra-stylish docu-soap which follows the dynamic lives of Rye's social butterflies. Khaki pants and Lily headbands need not apply," all in the hope that Bravo will take notice. In an attempt to make the casting process a bit smoother, we decided to make our own picks for the ultimate Real Housewives of Westchester. To the ladies: more ›

Now Clinton Hints About Obama "Dream Ticket"

Now Clinton Hints About Obama "Dream Ticket"

Fresh off her big night of wins in Ohio and Texas, Hillary Clinton spoke on CBS's Early Show and mentioned the words "dream ticket" in relation to the heated Democratic presidential race. Harry Smith told Clinton, "We talked to a lot of people in Ohio who said there really isn't that significant a difference between you two, and they'd like to see you both on the ticket." After remarking how "incredibly close" the race is, she said pairing up "may be where this is headed, but we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket, and I think that the people of Ohio very clearly said that it should be me." more ›

Email us at GothamistContest(a)gmail dot com and let us know -- the winner (who we'll choose by noon) will get two tickets. For now, get to know the leader of the band, Aaron Espinoza. more ›

Queens Crack Ring Busted

Queens Crack Ring Busted

Now, drug dealers are generally a crafty bunch, as what they do is illegal, but who knew that they would call themselves "The Dream Team" after figuring out that if they kept violence to a minimum, then they could "operate indefinitely"? It's like realizing, "Hey, let's sell addictive drugs so we can get repeat customers!" The NYPD, though, arrested 55 members of a drug ring that operated in Long Island City, and revealed that the "Dream Team that's not a U.S. Olympics basketball team marketing term" had a complex organization, with "street managers" and even a memorandum outlining how to make the drug organization a success. The drug buys were happening at shopping centers and even schools, so the NYPD is revelling in making a big bust that affects both the drug trafficking business and quality of life in Queens. This totally reminds us of New Jack City! more ›

Goodbye Athens, Hello Beijing...

Goodbye Athens, Hello Beijing...

While Gothamist set out to write about every sport once, we ultimately did not accomplish that. What can we say? We're human. There were several disappointments in our mind, the obvious being the performance of USA Basketball. Dream Team? We think not. And where is USA Baseball? Great stories to us include the performance of two Americans in the men's and women's marathons. Winning two medals on the original course. We also loved the performance of the US Rowing teams. The men took gold, while the women won silver, ending droughts for both teams. more ›
