Oh, no, is the city going to ban the purchase of Crayola Sidewalk Chalk? The Brooklyn Paper exposes the "new face of vandalism?": 6-year-old Natalie Shea, whose mother got a warning letter from the Department of Sanitation about the chalk drawings her daughter drew on their front stoop. The letter read, “PLEASE REMOVE THE GRAFFITI FROM YOUR PROPERTY. FAILURE TO COMPLY … MAY RESULT IN ENFORCEMENT ACTION AGAINST YOU.”

COMEDY: Our favorite duo, Gil Faizon (Nick Kroll) and George St. Geegland (John Mulaney), will be bringing their "Oh Hello" show to UCB. Drop by, even if it's just for their famous Tuna-tina recipe. In addition, there will be NEW drink recipes...and special guests.

It looks like the Drawing Center will actually get an extreme downtown space. The Drawing Center is in talks to build a space where the Fulton Fish Market once was. The deal, as reported by the NY Times, is "far from a done deal," but Gothamist supposes being on the other side of the lower tip of Manhattan is far enough from the World Trader Center not to "denigrate" it. The South Street space would be twice the size of the Drawing Center's current Wooster Street gallery, but about two-thirds the size of the original, World Trade Center site design. Downtown officials are pleased with the match, and so are we - sometimes it feels too commercial (shock!) at the Seaport - this will be a good injection of culture. We just suggest that the first exhibit planned there be drawings of the fish trade over time!

- And with Mayor Bloomberg interested in becoming very involved with Ground Zero development, the role of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation is in question

Eager to reassure everyone that things were moving along at Ground Zero, Governor Pataki's World Trade Center flunky chief of staff, said that the PATH Transit Hub designed by Santiago Calatrava would offer 200,000 square feet of space for retailers and bidding will start in a few months. All hell, does this mean there will be an Olive Garden down there, to compete with the Applebee's at the Battery Park Regal Cinemas? The NY Times says the retail corridor plans, which would include another 300,000 square feet along Church Street, might face "same criticism that felled the Freedom Center"; plus Cahill's remarks were to a group of business executives, including those from Wal-Mart (of course, the Port Authority chairman Anthony Coscia had to tell the Times, "It's premature, to be frank, but if you think we're planning a big Wal-Mart, the answer is no."). At any rate, if there's one thing Gothamist remembers after September 11, it's that if you don't shop, then the terrorists win! Perhaps the LMDC can build a mall to rival the one uptown...and call it "Freedom to Shop Center."

") confirms that he's a little creepy, because Master Plan sounds like too many science fiction/suspense films we've seen. Though "Ground Zero: Redesign Planning" would be a compelling reality show. Anyway, the announcement was "upbeat," according to the NY Times, and WNYC said it was like an awards ceremony, with people thanking and giving shout-outs to everyone. There was Archbishop Desmond Tutu and actor Edward Norton (on the board of the Signature). There was dance choreographed by David Parsons, and Governor Pataki joked/scared the bejesus out of attendees by saying that he and Mayor Bloomberg were originally participating in the dance. This is exciting news, it's just too bad we have to wait a few years for it.
