The Giants did not have the same quantity of picks that the Jets did, but they managed to fill several needs. With Michael Strahan’s injury last year, the Giants’ lack of depth on their defensive line was exposed; adding Jason Tuck and Eric Moore should help to address that. Third down with one yard to go has been a situation that makes Giants’ fans queasy and hopefully running back, Brandon Jacobs will solve that. At 6-3, 256 pounds, he certainly has the size to. With their top selection, the Giants chose cornerback, Corey Webster. Webster will instantly become the cornerback in the nickel defense and protects the Giants from the potential loss of starter, Will Allen, after the 2005 season.

Because Gothamist listens to an unhealthy amount of sports talk radio (so much that we recognize Jerry Recco and Larry Hardesty in person even though they are seldom seen), we'll save you some time on the blame game.
First, the Jets played well enough to win. Then, at the latest and worse possible moment, a single player's costly mistake (Eric Barton's personal foul on Drew Brees after an incomplete pass that otherwise would have effectively ended the game) singlehandedly allowed the Chargers to tie the game and force overtime. Had San Diego rookie Nate Kaeding's 40-yard field goal attempt in overtime been good, Barton would be seen as a 'Bill Buckner' of football - in New York, no less. Anyhow, Barton ultimately would be off the hook (another similar story), after Doug Brien converted on a 28-yard attempt in the extra period.
Doug Brien's 38-yard field goal with 58 seconds remaining was the difference, as Chad Pennington went 31-of-42 for 304 yards passing on the afternoon, but nothing bigger than going 7-of-8 for 51 yards on what would be the game's decisive drive. Pennington's fourth quarter interception allowed Buffalo to get back in the game and showedhe is human after all.
