Two men were found shot and killed on Thursday in a Queens basement in what investigators believe was a double homicide. The victims — who were not immediately identified — were both shot multiple times in the head at around noon near the corner of 111th Avenue and 156th Street, according to NY1. Neighbors were shocked by the slayings, which took place on a block that one passerby called "quiet." "Double homicide? Ain't nothing really happen around here. Two men were shot and killed early Saturday morning at a gathering inside Platinum 181, a banquet hall in Brownsville. The Daily News reports that there was "heavy drinking" before the gunfire that came at just after 4 a.m. yesterday. One man died immediately after being shot in the head, a second 23-year-old man died later at Brookdale Hospital after being shot in the chest. Earlier Friday night, another shooting in Brownsville left three injured, but appears to be unrelated. A 15-year-old and 22-year-old man were in stable condition after being shot in the chest and a 26-year-old man is in critical condition at Brookdale after being shot in the head in the incident that took place around 10 pm. Few other details are available about either shooting. Two men were shot in the head and found dead just after midnight on Christmas in front of the apartment of one of the victims in the Jamaica section of Queens. Police are still investigating and have not revealed any motive behind the shootings of 42-year-old Andre Stokes and 34-year-old Jamel Griffin, both of whom the Daily News notes "had troubled pasts with numerous arrests." Griffin left behind a young son and was expecting another. Murders and shootings have risen in Jamaica this year.
