A federal judge dismissed defamation charges against City Councilman John Liu related to an incident last year when Liu called radio personality DJ Star a "sick, racist pedophile." The characterization was a reaction to an on-air taunt at a rival DJ, when DJ Star (Troi Torain), solicited information on where DJ Envy of Hot 97 lived so he could sexually defile his four-year-old daughter. DJ Star also called DJ Envy's wife, who is Asian, several racist epithets. Torain was arrested following the incident and eventually fired from Power 105.

On-air personalities (especially those of the "shock jock" genre) are really raising the bar in crossing the line this month. While there's been some high-profile stupid DJ behavior in the past - Hot 97's Tsunami Song, Opie & Anthony broadcasting a couple having sex at St. Patrick's, DJ Star asking listeners for information where a radio rival's young daughter goes to school so he could ejaculate and pee on her - the last week has been a doozy.

After claims that his G-Unit associate Tony Yayo beat up the son of a rival music management company for him, 50 Cent is talking. Well, his lawyer is talking. Benjamin Brafman, familiar for having defended P. Diddy and DJ Star, fired off a few words at the child's lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman.

Today, there's an interesting NY Times feature on City Councilman John Liu which focuses on his zealous ability to have press conferences and issue press releases. Which is exactly what our readers noted when he got into the fight with DJ Star/Troi Torain over Torain's remarks on Hot 97 and when he held a press conference for three of the victims in the Queens hate crime incident last week. In fact, Liu's aggressive or pro-active media stance, which includes holding press conferences in districts outside his own (Flushing), seems to have alienated other City Concil members. Which we can understand - he is all over the TV during electrified plate incidents, Asian racism incidents, transportation issues. And even though the article says he gets up at 4AM and goes home at 10PM, his office still sends out press releases late! Interesting facts: His dad was convicted of bank fraud, his Chinese name is slang for toilet, and he can't speak Chinese. Read it if you're interested in knowing more about someone who very clearly wants to run for Mayor some day.

Ah, we were wondering when we'd hear more of Troi Torain, aka DJ Star, the former morning show DJ who threatened to molest and urinate on the 4 year old daughter of a radio rival. Last week, it was announced that child endangerment charges against him would be dropped if Torain performed community service, and it seemed like Torain had settled with his rival DJ Envy's family. But now Torain is filing a $55 million lawsuit against City Councilman John Liu for defamation. Or $5 million - the number includes "5" and "million." Torain says that Liu's actions were prompted by "self-promotion and aggrandizement" (from a politician? No!) led to Torain getting fired from his $4 million a year job at Power 105 and getting arrested.

Remember DJ Star? In May, he had threatened his morning radio DJ rival DJ Envy's wife and 4 year old daughter with racial slurs and sexual molestation - even offering a reward for where the child went to school. Well, after being fired from Power 105, getting arrested for the threats, and claiming that the hurtful words of other DJs led him to make those comments, a judge dismissed charges against him if he performs community service (three days only!) and doesn't communicate with DJ Envy's family for six months. Though a lawyer for DJ Envy's wife Gia Casey, who DJ Star called a "slanty eyed whore," says the matter was resolved for them (apparently they didn't want the child to be featured in the case anymore), City Councilman John Liu told the NY Times he wished DJ Star was punished more severely because the issue was "whether someone listening on the public airwaves would have somehow gotten it into their head that they were going to get a cash reward” for information about a 4 year old. DJ Star continued to emphasize he was a victim, from disses by other DJs, adding "But I didn't go running off to the police to sign a complaint." Well, there's a difference between trashtalking between adults and telling your listeners you'll give them money to locate a child so you can abuse her.

Troi Torain, aka DJ Star, aka the DJ who threatened rival DJ Envy by saying he'd pull an R. Kelly on DJ Envy's four year old daughter, while using racist slurs to refer to DJ Envy's wife, is hoping his criminal case will be thrown out. DJ Star was arrested for his remarks (child endangerment), but his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, says that other DJs started it. Namely, Miss Jones, from Miss Jones in the Morning on Hot 97. Torain claims Miss Jones called him an "alcoholic" and said he "liked boys," called his mom a "prostitute" and his dad a "tar-black" "Sambo," and said her young son's penis was probably the size of Torain's (via Daily News and Post). Okay, those aren't very nice, but why all the vitriol towards DJ Envy when it's all about Miss Jones? At any rate, Brafman would like the whole Miss Jones in the Morning crew to be arrested.

Not only did the police arrest DJ Star and charge him with aggravated harrassment and endangering the welfare of a minor, they managed to get him to Police Headquarters by asking him to surrender his 9mm handgun. And when he arrived - he was taken to the First Precinct to be arrested. Wow - that's a switcheroo, though it seemed sort of pre-ordained, given how much attention has been put on the former Power 105FM DJ after he threatened to molest the 4 year old child of another rival DJ. DJ Star told reporters, "You're looking at the new Lenny Bruce." He was released on $2,000 bail, and his lawyer Ben Brafman continued to claim it was simply a matter of radio station rivalries gone amok.

The NYPD doesn't like hate crimes either, as DJ Star has been arrested today for "suspicion of endangering the welfare of a minor" and started a hate crime investigation. Well, that's what you get for saying you'd ejaculate and pee on the 4 year old daughter of your rival, call her "half a lo mein eater," and call her mom a "slanty eye whore wife." This most likely pleases the target of some of the vitriol, Gia Casey, wife of DJ Star's rival DJ Envy; Casey held a press conference and spoke to NY1 saying that DJ Star needed to be behind bars: "He needs to be held 100 percent accountable."

Just when you thought you heard the worst thing on the radio, there's something new: Power 105.1 FM fired DJ Star after he threatened to pee on and molest the four year old daughter of rival Hot 97 DJ Envy. Oh, and he called DJ Envy's half-Asian wife, Gia Casey, a "lo-mein eater" and "gook." But the thing that took the cake was when DJ Star, really named Troi Torain, offered listeners $500 to tell him where the four year old daughter of Rasshaun Casey goes to school, and taunted DJ Envy on the air with "If you didn't hear me, I said I would like to do an R. Kelly on your seed. On your little baby girl." for the past week. Now, the R. Kelly comment would have been icky without mention of a four year old, but really, has radio shock-jocking gone this far? Gia Casey spoke at a City Hall press conference (City Councilmen John Liu and Peter Vallone were on hand) and said, "When a man says that he would like to tinkle in the mouth of your little girl and ejaculate on her face - that will make any mother extremely frightened." Uh, yeah, definitely.
