On December 15, Jin Jin Chen, 22, was sent by his bosses at King Food Chinese on Graham Avenue to deliver three orders of sesame chicken, some roast pork and a bottle of Sprite to an apartment at the Bushwick Houses. A 16-year-old Bronx resident accused of beating a Chinese food deliveryman was described as an honors student by his mother. Charles Codrington was arraigned today, and his mother Carmen Codrington said, "Honest, he's a good boy, he just fell in with a bad crowd." The MTA bus that fatally struck a bicyclist has been found. The Post reports that the express bus, which kept going because the apparently driver didn't realize he hit someone at Second Avenue and East 96th Street, "was identified once it arrived at a Yonkers depot earlier this morning after the driver completed his shift." A witness told the Daily News, "The bus was heading downtown. The car swerved in front of the bus. The bus tried to avoid an accident and curved into the delivery guy... Bread deliveryman Jorge Martinez, 39, was struck and killed by a bullet that pierced the roof of his van as he was making his rounds last night. Two rounds entered the car as he drove down Avenue X in Gravesend, with one striking him in the head. Police believe that because of the downward entry angle of the bullets, Martinez may have been the target of a sniper. A Queens Chinese deliveryman is dead after being struck on his scooter yesterday by the drunk driver of an SUV. After hitting Jiangiu Chen, the motorist Richard Conreras allegedly sped off, and dragged the man briefly. Cops found the 28-year-old driver—who was previously arrested for DWI in September—on Greenpoint and Bradley avenues near his home. "I know I hit someone. I was in a vehicle accident, and I’m on my way home," he said at his arraignment today. more ›

With a police sketch of his likeness taped to brownstone stoops throughout the West Village, the fake deliveryman suspected in a string of home invasion robberies has apparently taken his act back uptown. Yesterday afternoon, a nanny entering a West 81st Street apartment with a 5-month-old boy was followed into the building by the suspect, who was carrying a pile of packages. Bogus UPS Deliveryman Binds, Robs Nanny

Last Thursday night, a fake UPS deliveryman bound a nanny and robbed a West Village brownstone. The Post reports that a 50-something white male, pretending to be a UPS worker, first asked the nanny to sign for a fake package and then placed a sharp object against the back of her head, forcing her into the apartment. He tied her up (but not the 3-year-old charge) and took a MacBook, Apple TV, cable modem, camera and $40. When leaving, he told the nanny she could untie herself in 10 minutes. Police are investigating whether this home invasion is connected to an earlier break-in at an apartment on 9th near 5th Avenue. more ›

Delivery Bicyclist Fatally Mowed Down During Drug Bust Chase

In a sad twist of fate in Long Island City yesterday, a man who was on his way to make a food delivery to police officers was struck and killed by a man who had just made an illicit purchase from cops and was driving wildly while trying to avoid their chase. 27-year old Pablo Pasaras was riding his bike on 35th Avenue en route to deliver food from the restaurant Antojitos Cibaeno to nearby housing officers when he was plowed into by the black Range Rover driven by Martin Ocasio. The 33-year-old Ocasio had just bought drugs from undercover officers and was racing away from an unmarked squad car giving chase when he slammed into Pasaras and a nearby parked car around 6:30 p.m. Ocasio has been arrested nine times previously, including several for drug charges. Pasaras, a father of three, was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. A family member called him "a very nice guy" and "a very good father." more ›

Sushi Delivery Man Caught in Drug Shootout Crossfire

A delivery man for Brooklyn restaurant Sushi Tatsu on Franklin Avenue (in Crown Heights? Prospect Heights? Discuss.) was in the wrong place at the wrong time last night—right outside his restaurant. Police say Lin Jun, 21, was in front of Sushi Tatsu around 7:30 p.m. when he got caught in the crossfire between warring drug dealers. Jun took at least one bullet in the stomach, staggered into the restaurant and collapsed in a pool of blood. Sushi Tatsu manager Helen Wong tells the Daily News, "It took the ambulance 15 minutes to get here, I can't believe it." Jun's currently in critical condition at Kings County Hospital. An unidentified second man, whom police say was the intended target, was shot in the shoulder and is listed in stable condition at the same hospital. And the perpetrators are still at large. more ›

Arrest Made in Brooklyn Punch-Out Mugging

Police arrested an 18-year-old suspect in the punch-grab-and-run mugging of a 62-year-old woman in front of the Catholic school where she is a teacher. Patricia McGowan was approached by a young man in front of the Good Shepherd School before 7 a.m. this past Monday, who then shoved her against the school's front gate and then punched her hard in the face, knocking McGowan to the ground. Surveillance tapes captured the whole attack on tape, which led to Eric Ferguson's arrest Friday morning. more ›
