Well this is probably harshing some vibes out there. Thanks to Hurricane Irene, the Dave Matthews Band will have to move their 3-day-long festival to Randall's Island (sad didgeridoo), which was rescheduled for September 16th to 18th. Originally the festival was set to take place last weekend on the much more picturesque Governors Island.

Photos: Flimsy Tape Signifies The Mighty MTA Has Shut Down
Whether or not it was a good decision won't be known for a few hours, but the entire MTA stopped service earlier today at noon for the first time in history due to Hurricane Irene. How does such a colossus display its utter capitulation to the storm gods? With cartoonishly sad-looking tape. We stopped by some of our neighborhood subway stations hoping to catch a glimpse of commuting chaos, but instead saw a sleeping giant. Mayor Bloomberg, your subjects are too obedient!

In case you were still planning on trying to do anything but stay dry in your apartment on Sunday, it's probably been cancelled. (Thanks, Irene!) Mayor Bloomberg has officially revoked all permits for outdoor events on Sunday, and cancellations are piling up for events on Saturday, too.

DMB Rumor Watch: Will Ants Be Marching To Governors Island This Summer?!
Over at the Dave Matthews Band message board Ants Marching, there's an entire thread about the rumor going around that the band may take to Governors Island this summer, and the Governors Island Twitter now seems to be feeding the rumor with ReTweets. (According to EW, the band will be announcing plans to play series of three-day festivals this summer.) Will Dave be taking to the city's most gorgeous venue this summer? And will he dump human waste into the East River on his way there?
Gothamist's Week in Rock: Dog Days Edition
At what feels like one of the most hyped Pianos residencies since the Cold War Kids or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Passion Pit played their second of three consecutive weekly shows at the bar this week to another sold-out room. The white-hot kids from Cambridge, Mass play an indie-dance hybrid sound that feels remarkably light and fresh for such a recently tired genre. Michael Angelakos' piercing, almost feminine falsetto punctuates the mix of electronic beats and live instruments, creating a supremely listenable sound. Their debut EP comes out in a few weeks, and it'd be highly recommended to get tickets now for next weeks show while they are still available. This is certainly a band to watch.

The Apple is Oranger
Is Crayola's Bittersweet a deeper shade of Orange? Gothamist wonders this because the Post says New York's increased security measure in a time of orange means NYC is at Orange+. But not even Super Orange can deter NYers from getting their Christmas shopping done: One shopper tells the Daily News, "I just healed from an aneurysm, so nothing is going to stop me. I'm not going to live in fear. Our time is our time."
Dave Matthews Bands in Central Park
The Dave Matthews Band performed last night. Apparently, people had a good time; one told the Post, "Frat boys and goatees - it's all good." Hmm. Maybe Gothamist is okay with missing it.
