In something of a surprise, Rodney Alcala, the "Dating Game Killer" currently on death row in California for killing four women and a 12-year-old girl, has been indicted for murdering two woman in New York in the 70s. Cornelia Crilley, 23, was found raped and strangled in her UES apartment in 1971 and Ellen Hover, also 23, went missing in 1977 and was found a year later.

Women Identify Themselves in "Dating Game Killer" Photos
Former New Yorker Judy Cole believes she was the subject of one of the photos released by police that were taken by serial killer Rodney Alcala. Cole, who remembers meeting Alcala in 1978 when she was living in the city, says Alcala convinced her to pose on a rooftop when she was 19. "He was very charming. I should have known better," she told the Daily News. Another woman in California also claims she was a subject of one of the photos released by police Tuesday.
Cops Release "Dating Game Killer" Photos
The NYPD has decided to release over 200 photos taken by "Dating Game Killer" Rodney Alcala of his potential victims in the hopes that the subjects or their families will come forward and identify themselves. Though Alcala is on death row in California, he lived in Manhattan for a few years and has been connected to two murders here. One policeman told the Post the photos could help "solve several homicides he [Alcala] is a suspect in."
NYPD Won't Release Serial Killer's Photos
The NYPD is refusing to make photos taken by the "Dating Game Killer" Rodney Alcala of his victims public. They were sent by the Huntington Beach Police, hoping the NYPD could help find some of the victims by posting them online to be identified by family members or the women themselves. However, NYPD spokesman Inspector Edward Mullen would not say whether or not the police would release the photos, only that the "Cold Case Squad is reviewing them." Police found over 1,000 photos in a storage locker when they arrested Alcala in 1979; he was convicted of murder in California earlier this year and is currently on death row.
