To plug the giant hole in the network’s schedule this Sunday, caused by the WGA not giving a waiver to Dick Clark Productions for the Golden Globe Awards, NBC has handed the whole thing over to its news division.

While Six Sigma's goal-oriented blather and obsession with measuring everything was jarring, it was also weirdly familiar, inasmuch as it was strikingly reminiscent of my college Maoism I class. Mao seemed to be a good model for Jack Welch and his Six Sigma foot soldiers; Six Sigma's "Champions" and "Black Belts" were Mao's "Cadres" and "Squad Leaders."

A look at some of this week's noteworthy television:

David Lemus, who was convicted in the 1990 killing of Palladium bouncer Marcus Peterson in 1992, was found not guilty yesterday at the conclusion of his retrial. His mother screamed when the verdict was read and Lemus' lawyers reportedly appeared stunned. The jury took only two days to deliberate and the foreman of the jury from the 1992 trial was present during much of the retrial. Before his original conviction for the 14th St. club killing was overturned in 2005, Lemus spent almost 14 years in prison.

More Trouble for NBC’s Dateline

Last week we sat down with Maurice DuBois, anchor of CBS 2 News This Morning and fill in weekend anchor for The Saturday Early Show and The CBS Evening News. DuBois joined WCBS and CBS in 2004 after seven years with WNBC and NBC where he anchored Today in New York, reported for Dateline NBC and filled in on the Today Show.

This week the peacock network released its mid-season lineup. There are is a bit of shifting going on, but none of the Law & Order shows will be shifting timeslots.
