While last week's Project Runway couture challenge itself wasn't satisfying, the outcome was well worth it. To see Vincent "Everything I do turns me on" Libretti leave has been, well, liberating, because we don't have to worry about him walking around in his boxers on TV ever again. Unless they make him do it on the reunion show. Anyway, here are our thoughts on the episode:

Jeffrey Sebelia, 36, Los Angeles, CA The NY Post had scoop on the New Yorkers: Laura Bennett has five children, has no "formal training" (Marla redux?), and designs clothes and jewelry; Keith Michael is from Brooklyn, designs menswear, was named "best newcomer" by Sportwear International; Malan Breton does voiceover work and was named "one of 12 new designers to watch by Women's Wear Daily in 2005"; and Alison Kelly has a clothing line, Dahl. And we guess the finale will take place during the Spring 2007 fashion shows this fall. If you know anything more, let us know.

Last night's Project Runway Reunion special was so good: Montages, dirty looks, incomprehensible babbling, serious weight loss (thank you, John Wade - you look great!), and Tim Gunn! Some things we noticed, wondered about, and loved:

On Wednesday night, Gothamist immediately collapsed because we were so tired from our hours of transit strike-commuting, only to be greeted with yesterday's news that the strike would be over. Which leave us here on Friday to discuss the last episode of Project Runway. For starters, the lingerie challenge meant there was more ass on display than most beaches during spring break (and we were secretly excited to see cellulite on the model's butts - their bodies certainly were hot, but humanish). Also amazing: Daniel Franco's pitch of "Lovemaking" lingerie to Heidi; the editing totally made it look like she was falling in love with him, or, more accurately, his love of fine vestments. If only he could get it together!; also, for his Mrs. Robinson-style lingerie, we totally feel he could have designed the skirts to be taken off, to reveal a skimpier, even sexier teddy or something.

Bless you, Project Runway, for proving that as skilled as the fashion design contestants are, they are still dumb as bricks. For last night's challenge, Heidi and Tim tantalized the group with the promise of designing for an "American style icon" and saying they would meet her in her house... the designers start thinking along the lines of Gwyneth Paltrow, but it's clear when they start walking towards Toys'R'Us that it's going to be Barbie. Yet they still are thinking it might be Sarah Jessica Parker or a celebrity who on par with Nancy O'Dell, who had a dressed designed for her during last season. Anyway, they had to design a dress for My Scene Barbie (aka "Slutty Ho/Bratz-like Barbie") that would actually be produced in a limited edition for the dolls. Anyway, it seemed like a fun challenge, because who doesn't like seeing grown men and women tote around Barbies, and there were some really great dresses. Gothamist conitnues to love that smug bastard Santino and the cool Chloe, but we adored Nick for making fun of Marla and her "wickedy-wack trim." And there is excellent potential in Andrae completely cracking.

Project Runway has a couple of its season two dresses for sale on various auctions at the PR website. They are winning dresses from Santino and Chloe, plus that terribly-fitting Daniel Franco muslin dress and Diana's deconstructed prom dress. Naturally, Santino's and Chloe's dresses are in the $300+ range, while Daniel's and Diana's dresses are at about $55. Gothamist really loves Santino's dress (right), and maybe, if we removes some ribs and about a third of our body, we could wear it. Chloe's dress was also lovely, and we sort of loved Diane von Furstenberg as a judge during the second episode, with her slouchy appraisals of everyone, but Nina Garcia and Michael Kors are really making up for a Janice Dickinson-less America's Next Top Model.
