Queens city councilman Dan Halloran has allegedly been caught on tape berating the manager of an auto repair shop for not taking care of noise complaints the dealership has received. "He had anger in his eyes. He was standing a foot in front of me, pointing at me," manager Elliott Rothman told the Daily News. A video that the newspaper is selfishly not posting on the internet apparently shows Halloran saying, "I'll park every f*cking city agency down here for the rest of f*cking two years." Rothman adorably told the paper, "I couldn't believe this was a politican acting like that."

"Coolata Cop" Files $6 Million Slander Suit Against Queens Pol
Former parking enforcement officer Daniel Chu, known as Big Bad Dan to residents in Queens where he terrorized funeral processions and pregnant women alike, is suing Queens city councilman Dan Halloran for $6 million, alleging that the pol insulted his Chinese heritage and damaged his reputation. Chu alleges in the complaint that Halloran said, "Go ahead and give me a f*cking ticket. I know the police commissioner and your boss
When you lose this job you can go back to your old job, delivering Chinese food." A spokesman for Halloran denies the charges and tells the Daily News, "Chu is a disgruntled and disgraced traffic agent and his conduct speaks for itself."
Sanitation Slowdown Report Minimizes Blizzard Screw Up
Yesterday, the Department of Investigation released their long-awaited report on the alleged sanitation "slowdown" during last winter's Blizzageddon. And they ultimately found that there was no conspiracy to purposefully slowdown as revenge for department budget cuts. You can get the full report here. Thanks to it, one local politician may be facing contempt charges.
Snow Slows Halloran From Testifying About Slow Down
Yesterday councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens) was supposed to speak before a grand jury regarding his claims of a sanitation slowdown during last month's Blizzageddon. We say was because snow prevented much of the jury from making it to court and Halloran's appointment was postponed. But that didn't mean he didn't stop pushing his story, instead he went and talked to federal investigators.
Blizzard Slowdown Investigations Aren't Going Great
A month after the start of the great Boxing Day Blizzard of 2010, investigations into the purported sanitation slowdown are starting to slowdown themselves. Because, well, finding evidence of an actual slowdown is turning out to be harder than previously expected.
Alleged Sanitation Slowdown Getting A Criminal Probe
In a response to City Councilman Dan Halloran's claims that Sanitation workers confessed to intentionally slowing down during last week's blizzard, federal prosecutors have reportedly opened a criminal probe into the allegations. The Brooklyn and Queens DA's offices have also started their own investigations into the claims, but feds would investigate the possibility of statutes being violated by workers receiving overtime pay during an illegal job action.
City Council Email Thread Descends Into 9/11 Comparisons
An email thread between city council members regarding a Puerto Rican radical ended up in exactly the kind of appropriate place you'd imagine reasonable city council members might take it: the magical land of hyperbolic 9/11 comparisons.
"Big Bad" Traffic Cop Suing Councilman For Slander
"Big Bad Dan" Chu, the NYPD traffic cop who got in trouble for his terrible on-the-job behavior over the summer, intends to file a $2 million libel and slander lawsuit against the city and the Queens councilman who ratted him out. Chu claims Councilman Dan Halloran and his then-chief of staff Dennis Ring defamed him with "false reports" that he drove recklessly with police lights flashing while chatting on a cell phone. According to the Daily News, Chu is filing this lawsuit even though he admitted to those charges during an NYPD disciplinary hearing, where he was demoted to foot patrol.
WCBS 2 Annoys Bloomberg By Asking About Traffic Agent
Mayor Bloomberg really didn't want to talk about the drama surrounding traffic agent Daniel Chu at a press conference yesterday, but WCBS didn't really care. Ignoring Bloomberg's "one reporter, one question" rule, they bombarded the Mayor with inquiries as to why the "coolata cop" is still on duty after allegedly being caught by councilman Dan Halloran running a red light to get to a Dunkin' Donuts.
Traffic Agent Chu "Legend" For Breaking the Rules
After Councilman Dan Halloran apparently caught Traffic Agent Daniel Chu running red lights while talking on his cell phone, more people continue to pour forward with reports of Chu's awful behavior while on duty, which has earned him the nickname "Big Bad Dan." Halloran told WCBS, "It seems like this guy is a one man wrecking crew in my district. And yet this officer is still on duty. This traffic agent is still out there doing what he does. The horror stories just keep coming in." Granted, Halloran may have a bit of a bias.
Traffic Agent Under Fire Was Mean To Funeral Mourners
A former cop is speaking out against the traffic agent who issued a summons to a City Councilman after the Councilman caught him going through stop signs and red lights, sirens blazing, to go to...Dunkin' Donuts. Tim Dillon spoke to WCBS 2 about his run-in with Traffic Agent Daniel Chu while Dillon was a pallbearer at a funeral, "The family was getting ready to transfer the body from the funeral home to the churchThe traffic agent felt that they were all double-parked. There was a confrontation - he started yelling and screaming at the family members."

[UPDATE BELOW] City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens) is demanding a review of every ticket Officer Daniel Chu has ever written after allegedly catching him speeding through a red light and talking on his cell phone with his siren lights on in Whitestone on Monday. Halloran became suspicious, telling the Daily News, "I know the traffic agents have no emergency they have to run to." He followed Chu weaving through traffic, and eventually found him parked illegally in front of a Dunkin' Donuts. Chu came out and caught Halloran taking photos of his car, and immediately issued Halloran a $165 ticket for blocking a crosswalk.
Heathen Pol Sorry For Comparing His Faith To Greek Orthodox Beliefs
Councilman-elect Dan Halloran (R-Bayside), a devout heathen, has apologized for comparing the role of animal sacrifice in his faith with Greek Orthodox Easter traditions. After coming under fire yesterday for linking the role of "blood sacrifice" in his religion, Theodism, with Easter lamb roasts, the incoming Councilman said he was sorry if he "inadvertently offended" any Greek Orthodox constituents in his Queens district.
Pagan Councilman Explains His Faith, Other Pols Demand Apology
Last week, Councilman-elect Dan Halloran (R-Bayside) narrowly defeated a Democratic candidate in one of the nation's most liberal cities. Now comes the hard part: explaining his religious beliefs to the press. For the past two decades, the cop-turned-lawyer has been a devout believer in Theodism, a pre-Christian faith rooted in Celtic and Germanic tribal religions. "Understanding my theology is a little difficult for mainstreamers," admits Halloran, who serves as the "First Atheling," or king, of a local tribe of 120 followers called New Normandy.
2009 NYC Election: Republicans Snag Two Queens Council Seats
The Bloomberg and Thompson bout was certainly been more entertaining than many expected, but it wasn't the night's only contested race. Though all of the incumbent Borough Presidents won another term and the citywide elections for Comptroller and Public Advocate were unsurprising (John Liu and Bill de Blasio won easily), several City Council races were action packed.
Paganism Becomes Key Issue in Queens City Council Race
There's always a lot of political name-calling on the eve of election day, but we're pretty sure this one is a first. Democratic Queens Council candidate Kevin Kim is alleging that his Republican rival isn't just an anti-Semite — he's also a pagan. Kim's campaign is accusing Dan Halloran of insulting Jews in his attempt to downplay the role of blood sacrifice in the ancient Germanic religion of Theodism, a faith in which the City Hall hopeful has risen to the title of "'First Atheling,' or King," of a New York City area pre-Christian group according to the Queens Tribune.
