Last Night's Action: Break Time

Markus Naslund got things going with a power play goal in the first and after Anaheim tied it, Freddy Sjostrum put them ahead again with a shorthanded goal. Anaheim tied it again at the end of the second, but Scott Gomez scored his first power play goal of the season to put them in front for good.

  • Pittsburgh 3 Rangers 2 OT: In the end it was another weird bounce that brought a close to the Rangers’ season. Dan Girardi tried to kick the puck out of the zone and instead of clearing it, deflected it right to Marian Hossa. Hossa deposited it past a surprised Henrik Lundqvist for the win.

Rangers 1 Devils 0 Overtime: This was one the Rangers needed to win and it showed. From the start of the game they played a smart, defensive style that gave New Jersey very few chances. It worked to perfection as the Devils only got 17 shots during the entire game, but the problem was the Rangers couldn’t score. Time and again Martin Brodeur stopped them and when the game went to overtime, it appeared likely...
