This summer Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash received a warning from his bank after having not made a payment on his $78,504.20-a-month mortgage since January. Now the Daily News is reporting that the bank wants his two Tribeca condos, which under the same mortgage and located at 25 N. Moore Street and 79 Laight Street. On top of losing the homes, the city is seizing his SUV and "his lawyer dropped him for not paying his legal bills." Yikes, what happened to the $20 million he got for selling his half of Roc-a-Fella to Jay-Z? He also has an outstanding $2.1 million bill from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. A lawyer who settled another suit against him and his wife for unpaid fees told the paper, "to borrow a phrase from my Kentucky homeland, they haven't got a pot to piss in - they're broke."

It seems hip-hop mogul Damon Dash may be an entrepreneur, but he's certainly not in the business of paying the bills. The NY Post is now reporting that the Eastern Savings Bank has filed suit against him, "charging the Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder hasn't made a payment on his $78,504.20-a-month mortgage since January." The $7.3M mortgage is split between two properties, at both 25 N. Moore Street and 79 Laight Street, and Dash and his wife (Rachel Roy) have been warned in writing that they are in danger of losing both. The Daily News adds that the suit "cites numerous judgments against Dash in which he was ordered to pay more than $2 million in New York state taxes, more than $100,000 in federal taxes and $95,000 in unpaid rent to the landlord of the W.39th St. building that houses Damon Dash Enterprises." Last year he "sued his accountant for allegedly costing him millions of dollars by filing faulty tax returns."

Derek Jeter isn't alone when it comes to accusations of dodging taxes. The New York Post features a rundown of other famous New Yorkers who are on the hook for taxes owed. Near the top of the list is rap mogul Damon Dash, who allegedly owes the state $2 million.Dash, 36, is one of almost 225,000 city debtors who together have shortchanged the city and state more than $1 billion in income taxes, penalties and...

Jeez Louise! Mr. Softee has long been one of the few things in this city that we thought unimpeachably good. Sure, the music is sometimes a little much, and the trucks are spewing a billion tons of smog into the air every summer, but what beats a soft-serve cone on a hot day? Sad news, then, that Mr. Softee has turned to the dark side, threatening to kick the cream out of the cute foodie who writes Eat Drink One Woman:

Is the Upper West Side a new hotbed for cellphone theft? On the heels of news that rap impressario Damon Dash sent some of his men to scare some thugs who bullied his son and stole his cellphone outside the Dwight School, it turns out two 15 year olds mugged a woman of her cellphone yesterday. The two boys used an air pistol that looked at like a gun (and is used in target practice) to get the cellphone; both were later arrested. The Post notes that the robbery rate for the neighborhood increased last month, but it still surprises Gothamist that West 71st Street between Amsterdam and Columbus at 5PM would be a place for someone to strike. We guess that's why they would - no one would expect it, especially when they are yakking on their phone. Perhaps having headsets and just talking to air is better - you can look crazy, instead of showing off your phone.

Yesterday's SUV-jumping-a-Midtown-curb incident was actually more than an incident of just a driver losing control. It all started when the drivers of two cars got into a fight. A police lieutenant decided to intervene to "avoid a road rage" incident and asked the driver of a Honda SUV for his license. As Hugo Palamino took his license out of his wallet, a small bag with a white, drug-like substance fell out. And at that, Palamino "hit the gas," but dragged Lieutenant John McAndrew with him. Palamino drove for a half block, hitting a number of cars and pedestrains, only stopping after hitting a concrete barrier at Golda Meir Plaza. Then he tried to run away, but a building super stopped him. Palamino was "arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and possession of a controlled substance" (the police think it's cocaine - good thing it's not the 'thrax!), and passenger Victoria Chasen was charged with possession of a controlled substance; the police also found a bottle of Belvedere vodka in the car. Gothamist can't decide if the lesson in this is to avoid al fresco dining/eating on busy streets, avoid getting into arguments with other drivers, or to not put the drugs in the wallet, but one of them is probably worthwhile.

Tickets for Robert Deniro’s lovechild have gone on sale, offering over 150 films, documentaries, a free movie “drive in”, and an outside street fair. While movies range from the highly praised and much hyped Mad Hot Ballroom, be aware that acclaimed home video actress Paris Hilton’s horror opus House of Wax will also debut. So please, don’t drink and buy tickets. Highlights include:

Trucks will also be in Atlanta, Chicago (Kanye West truck) and Philadelphia (Beanie Sigal, which Gothamist thought was "Bernie Seigel" at first, but then we realized that was too accountant-y; and for the record, the best name on the Rocafella roster is Freekey Zeekey).
