The older brother of a Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was shot in Queens last night. Calvin Ogletree, 25, brother of Cowboys receiver Kevin Ogletree, was shot in front of the luxury car rental shop he opened last summer in St. Albans. “I heard one or two pops,” a witness who works nearby told the News. “I didn’t know if it was gunshots. Cowboys Owner Denied Lucky Black-Eyed Peas In Harlem Before Losing Sunday's Game

As we know, black-eyed peas are lucky when eaten on the first day of the year, but one man who couldn't find any was Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The team's owner was at Melba's in Harlem on Sunday, according to the NY Post, but the comfort food restaurant didn't have what he was looking for. The paper reports back that while he got collard greens (representing luck in money), "staff at the West 114th Street eatery omitted the luck portion of the meal. Owner Melba Wilson said, 'I feel a little guilty. I only had mixed rice and peas. On his way out, he gave me a hug and said he wished we had the black-eyed peas because he needed luck." more ›

Chris Canty, the defensive lineman signed from the Cowboys this offseason, will not play. Aaron Ross will most likely join him on the sidelines and Kenny Phillips and Kevin Dockery might be there as well, creating a huge void in the secondary. more ›

Last Night's Action: No Lead Is Safe in Sacramento

Last Night's Action: No Lead Is Safe in Sacramento

  • After what must have been a disappointing finish with the Dallas Cowboys, former Giants, Patriots and Jets coach Bill Parcells retired on Monday. He's done this before of course, but he's older now, and this should be for real. Parcells' best tenure came with the Giants, when he won two Super Bowls and oversaw a player who revolutionized football in Lawrence Taylor. He also guided the Patriots to the big game before bailing on them to join the Jets, whom he led to within 30 minutes of another Super Bowl berth. Given the talent he worked with and the sorry state of the Jets franchise before he got there, Parcells deserves almost as much credit for the second stop in East Rutherford as the first.

Big Blue Takes on the Tuna in Dallas

Anyway this should be a good game. Finally the Giants Cowboys rivalry has some juice again. The coaches have a long history and are still friendly off the field. (Giants coach Tom Coughlin was an assistant under Parcells when he was the coach of the Giants in the late eighties and early nineties and the two won a Super Bowl together in 1990.) more ›
