Texas Pizzeria Changed Their Brooklyn Brewery-esque Logo?

Texas Pizzeria Changed Their Brooklyn Brewery-esque Logo?

Earlier this week, Brooklyn Brewery noticed that Dallas' Eno's Pizza Tavern seemed to have taken some artistic liberties when designing their logo. Namely, that they copied the iconic Brooklyn Brewery logo, designed by Milton Glaser. The folks at Eno's told us they hadn't yet heard of any problems with the design, but according to the Dallas Observer the restaurant was soon in talks with Brooklyn Brewery regarding the infringement allegations. And would you look at that, now Eno's has a different logo on their website! more ›

Clinton Wins Ohio, Texas; Obama Still Has More Delegates

Clinton Wins Ohio, Texas; Obama Still Has More Delegates

Ohio and Texas are "too close to call" for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, which means it will be a long night - and very possibly another few weeks of primary madness. Obama did win Vermont (so far, 59% to Clinton's 39%) and Clinton won Rhode Island (currently 57% to Obama's 42%), which is her first win in a while, but those states aren't the focus. more ›

Victorious in Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont, McCain Projected to Win Republican Nomination

CNN, NBC, and the AP are projecting Senator John McCain will clinch the Republican presidential campaign, after winning the primaries in Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island and clinching the 1,191 delegates needed. A source tells NBC that President Bush has invited McCain to the White House tomorrow and will endorse him. McCain will be having a victory party in Dallas tonight, complete with banner that says "1,191." more ›

Kidd To Dallas...Take Two

Kidd To Dallas...Take Two

While nothing is done until the players actually change teams, the Nets and Mavericks have agreed again on a trade that will send Jason Kidd to Dallas. After Devean George sabotaged the first deal with his refusal to waive his no-trade clause and Jerry Stackhouse incurred the wrath of the NBA with his comments, it took some creativity on both sides to complete the deal. more ›

    Last Night's Action: Ropin' Mavericks

Vince Carter put forth one of his best efforts of the season -- a 29-point, nine-rebound performance. And that was after a nasty elbow sent him to the locker room. But the Nets' defense -- or the Mavericks' poor shooting -- was the story in this one. Dallas made only 36.5 percent of its shots.

  • Captials 3, Rangers 2 (OT): Ryan Hollweg will have five full days to think about the tripping penalty he took in the final minute of regulation. Just 23 seconds after the teams took the ice in overtime, the Capitals finally converted on a power play and took the two points. Steve Valiquette, who had shutouts in his last two starts, played on consecutive nights for the first time in his career. That didn't go over so well, but the goal in overtime wasn't his fault. He had 21 saves. Sean Avery and Chris Drury lit the lamp for the Rangers.

Chinese New Year Show Is Surprise Falun Gong Agitprop

Maybe you've received a flier to see a show at Radio City Music Hall called Chinese New Year Splendor, which is promoted as a holiday celebration of China’s diverse cultural riches. But mixed within the traditional Mongolian dancing, orchestral music and Buddhist parables are dramatizations of the Chinese government’s oppression of Falun Gong, a qigong-based spiritual practice that is banned in China. And the show’s political content is prompting audiences to walk out by the hundreds. more ›

We Are The Champions! Giants Win Their Third Super Bowl

History will place the 2007 Giants among the most unlikely champions ever. 0-2 to start the season, down 17-3 at halftime of their third game, bad losses to Minnesota and Washington, down 14-0 off the bat in Buffalo, a comeback in Dallas, an OT winner in Green Bay and a 17-14 victory over the perfect Patriots- it simply doesn’t get any better than this for Giants fans. more ›

A Giant Test: Will the 3rd Time Be a Charm

A Giant Test: Will the 3rd Time Be a Charm

The degree of difficulty is going up this weekend, way up. Dallas finished with the best record in the NFC at 13-3 and dominated the Giants in two games already this season. Only New England had more points than Dallas’ 455 and with Terrell Owens practicing, the Cowboys should be able to score a lot this weekend. more ›

Giants Make the Bucs Walk the Plank

2008_01_giantsbucs.jpgBelieve it or not, the Giants won their first playoff game in seven years 24-14 on Sunday. Down 7-0 and stuffed for -2 yards of offense in the first quarter, New York responded on both sides of the ball, rattling off 24-consecutive points and forcing three turnovers. Brandon Jacobs had two touchdowns and Corey Webster played his best game as a Giant, defending passes and collecting two turnovers. And, New York put a number of questions to rest. more ›

    Wide Right!

    Wide Right!

You can’t blame Giants fans for fearing the worst. After watching their team blow numerous chances to put Philadelphia away, including an awful turnover late in the fourth quarter, the thought that David Akers would make a 57-yard field goal was not a stretch. But, while Akers’ kick had plenty of length, it was a little bit too far to the right, clanging off the upright and the Giants escaped from Philadelphia with a 16-13... more ›

Last Night's Action: Addition By Subtraction?

Knicks 100, Nets 93: No Stephon Marbury, and the Knicks take down the Nets. Of course, the Nets didn't have Jason Kidd (headache), so who knows which team was worse off. Richard Jefferson's heroics couldn't get the job done for the Nets, who continue to play inexplicably poorly at home following road games. Jamal Crawford filled the backcourt "void" for the Knicks with 29 points, and Zach Randolph had 25. Richard Jefferson had 31 points... more ›

Jets Set to Prove They Aren't the Worst

Neither the Jets nor the Dolphins have enjoyed their seasons too much. One half of the Jets' wins came on Sept. 23 when they edged the Dolphins 31-28 at home. Now they travel to Miami. They're 0-5 on the road, but Miami has lost 14 straight. Ironically, the Jets stand to gain the most if they lose and somehow pass the Dolphins in the NFL draft pecking order. But shhh! No one's thinking about that.... more ›

Islanders 3 Ottawa 2 (Shootout): The Islanders got a huge victory Wednesday night thanks to some great goaltending from Rick DiPietro. DiPietro made 35 saves during the game and an additional 5 in the shootout to propel New York to victory. Ottawa came back from a 2-1 deficit in the third with a goal with under two minutes remaining in the game. Both teams had power plays in overtime, but were unable to convert and... more ›

Last Night's Action: Break Up The Knicks!

Knicks 113 Utah 109: Now we get it. The plan was to flash some early success and then create more headlines with manufactured drama and a big losing streak. Then, the Knicks would rise off the mat, run of a huge winning streak and make the playoffs. Unfortunately, it’s not quite that simple. Yes, the Knicks are now on a winning-streak with their victory Monday, but that is more a function of bad Utah defense... more ›

    Opinionist: Peter and Jerry

Edward Albee’s 1958 play The Zoo Story was a watershed moment in American theater, despite being ignored for two years by New York producers. Though the riveting two character play marked the arrival of a significant new American voice, it first premiered in Germany; not until 1960 was The Zoo Story performed in the U.S, and then not even in New York, where it’s set. Albee’s breakthrough one-act concerns a random, ultimately violent encounter between... more ›

Jets Don't Give Fans Reason to be Thankful

After seeing the Jets take Pittsburgh by surprise Sunday, the Cowboys weren't going to be ambushed. They dominated the Jets in every way in a 34-3 Thanksgiving Day whupping. Anyone who sat down to dinner after the Jets' first two series didn't miss much. Tony Romo led Dallas on a quick-strike scoring drive to start the game, and then Leon Washington fumbled the ensuing kickoff. Kellen Clemens couldn't get comfortable in the pocket when... more ›

Jets Look to Slay Another Giant

When the NFL scheduled the Jets to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving back in the spring, it had to think it was going to get a good game between two 2006 playoff teams. Unfortunately for the league, only the Cowboys have lived up to expectations this season. Still, the game is better than some of the duds of recent years. The Cowboys look like the best team in the NFC -- which could make them... more ›

Like It or Not, Jets Settle for Spoiler Role

After a much-needed bye that followed six straight losses, the Jets return to the Meadowlands field Sunday to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the first of three Super Bowl-caliber teams on their schedule in the second half. A win in any of those games -- they are also at Dallas on Thanksgiving and at New England on Dec. 16 -- would be a major surprise. That's the only way the Jets can affect the NFL... more ›

Last Night's Action: The Perfect Cure For A Losing Streak

Miami 75 Knicks 72: April 13th was the last time the Miami Heat won a game. From that date they lost their final two regular season games, got swept out of the playoffs, lost every exhibition game they played this preseason and opened the 2007-08 campaign 0-5. All it took to wipe out nearly seven months of losing was a game with the Knicks. Sure, New York didn’t have Zach Randolph, but they didn’t need... more ›

Giants Look To Pass A Huge Test

Giants Look To Pass A Huge Test

It’s pretty simple for the Giants this week. Win and the 6-2 start is validated in the eyes of the critics. Lose and the assertion that all they have done so far is beat up on weaker teams looks more plausible. It’s a foolish argument, but it’s the reality of the 24/7 sports media. And, while it is true that the Giants started off 6-2 under Tom Coughlin last year only to finish 8-8, there... more ›

    Mysteries Surround Shrinking Jets

    Mysteries Surround Shrinking Jets

If they want to, the Jets can trace the morphing of their season from disappointing to disastrous from their Week 4 loss in Buffalo on Sept. 30. Before that, their only defeats came against the Patriots and the Ravens. Those are nothing to be ashamed of. But now the team hasn't won since a Week 3 squeaker against the Dolphins, and, let's face it, everybody's beating Miami these days. The Jets will try it all over again at home this Sunday, but the change everyone wanted made hasn't happened. Chad Pennington is still the quarterback. more ›

    Jets' Problems Run Deep

    Jets' Problems Run Deep

Chad Pennington gets all the attention, but the Jets' problems run deeper than the quarterback position. Eric Mangini said as much during an unusually open news conference following the latest Jets debacle, a 38-31 loss at Cincinnati on Sunday. Pennington looked fine in the first half, throwing two touchdowns to Lavaranues Coles. In the second half, the rest of the team's wheels fell off at once. Kenny Watson tore up the Jets' rush defense. When the Bengals did go to the air, Darrelle Revis, the rookie cornerback and a No. 1 draft pick, got called for two pass interference penalties. Nick Manigold, the center, botched a snap. On the last meaningful series, Pennington had an interception returned for a touchdown. more ›
