Once upon a time the SoHo store Yellow Rat Bastard used to actually have a few pet rats caged beneath its front window display on Broadway. Those days are long gone, but this morning folks passing by the CVS on 116th Street and Lenox Avenue got a similar view when a squirrel decided to do laps in the store's front window.

Bedford Avenue: Officially On Strip Mall Watch
There's nothing like discount drunk-shopping at Marshalls after downing a few beers at your local Duane Reade. THIS IS YOUR FUTURE, Williamsburg. Just like the Mayans predicted. According to the Real Deal, the discount department store is interested in moving—along with a CVS—into a currently stalled development at 242 Bedford Avenue, which is right there in Williamsburg proper. This basically means that the neighborhood is turning into a strip mall, and not the kind with an Apple Store in it.
Would-Be Drugstore Robber Nabbed for Sidewalk Bike Riding
On October 10th, a man with a gun reportedly entered a CVS on Smith Street and passed the pharmacist a note saying, "Put all your Oxycontin in this bag! Keep quiet!" He flashed a gun, but fled on his bike without the pills. However, two days later cops stopped him for riding his bike on the sidewalk on Fourth Place, and found he was carrying an imitation gun and a knife. The pharmacist ID'd him, and he was charged with menacing, robbery in the second degree, and riding a bicycle on the sidewalk. That's why we always take the subway when commuting to our robberies.
Is A Staten Island CVS Trashing Good Toys?
In Manhattan, Urban Outfitters has been spotted tossing out perfectly good items that could go to charity, in Brooklyn, a school was recently called out for throwing out good books, and now on Staten Island, a CVS is being criticized for trashing what appear to be good toys that could be donated to charity. SI Live reports that the CVS Pharmacy on Arthur Kill Road in Eltingville recently filled their dumpster with boxes of brand new toys, and as one local Good Samaritan pointed out: "Christmas is coming, a lot of kids could have them."
Pharmacy Leaves Old Rx Info On The Street
The CVS pharmacy on 18th Street and Park Avenue is in trouble after customers found old prescription information billowing through the nearby streets. Numerous papers containing patient's names, addresses and old prescription info were not properly disposed of, and patients are angry. Shirley Okin told the Daily News, "I'm just so angry. I'm going to blow my stack!" However, she was apparently fine with letting the press know her mishandled prescription was for fioricet with codeine from back in 2002.

Turns out Williamsburg will now be known for its abundance of drugstores! Where pill poppers and those in need of Cover Girl charcoal eyeliner used to only have the quaint King's Pharmacy to go to, now there are some big, shiny corporate options moving into the 'hood.

Witnesses told the press that the sound of the crash was deafening, and that food items and milk covered the hood of the car.
