Did you have to battle crowds of people wearing #10 jerseys during your commute this morning? The Giants Super Bowl XLVI celebratory parade begins at 11 a.m., and crowds are already 10-15 people deep along the route. Our Tien Mao is at the scene and reports that a fan told a Department of Sanitation worker, "You're going to hate me, I have silly string." The DSNY worker replied, "I have overtime."

Christmas Day Dining In Chinatown Draws Huge Crowds
Those who braved the Chinatown masses for a meal on Christmas Day deserve a rousing "bravo" today—it was a madhouse down there. While some non-Chinese restaurants (like Kutsher's and Mile End) offered up special Chinese-influenced menus for the holiday, it seemed like every person who didn't leave New York for the weekend decided to head toward Canal Street instead.

The new Apple Store at Grand Central Terminal opened today at 10 a.m. and there were crowds. Take a look at this video:
Black Friday Redux: Fights, Looting, And The Danger Of "Hot Shirtless Guys"
NYC was thankfully spared the worst of Black Friday—after all, nobody got pepper sprayed or shot here. But that doesn't mean it was a walk in the park: tens of thousands of NYers across the state lugged their tryptophan-enriched bodies to stores to suss out deals. And along with them came long lines, fights, and looting. And this is exactly why one can't just go around promising "hot shirtless guys" all willy nilly.
The Blackest Friday: Millions Of Consumers Pillage For Deals
With the effects of the tryptophan wearing off, woozy consumers across the nation assembled at shopping centers and warehouse stores to celebrate and participate in our most sacred post-Thanksgiving hangover ritual: Black Friday. El Bloombito summed up the nation's mood quite efficiently: "Es Blackegro Fridayernes! Helpayudo stimulate el economido by shoppingo till tus droppingo!"
Video: What It's Like To Be In That Bryant Park Movie Crowd
The Bryant Park movies get pretty crowded... like really crowded, and sometimes this guy shows up. But what's it like to be in that mass of movie-watchers? One man made this amazing video from this week's screening of 39 Steps—not for the demophobic!
Met Extends Ragingly Popular McQueen Exhibit, Charges $50 For Special Admission
Looks like New Yorkers just can't get enough of pretty things: the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art has been so ragingly successful (and lines so ragingly long) that the museum is extending the exhibit and adding a $50 special admission option for fashion-obsessed big spenders.
Inauguration "Fiasco" Leaves NYC Ticket Holders Mad at Schumer
If you were one of the 150,000 New Yorkers who tried and failed to nab one of the golden tickets to the Obama Inauguration distributed by Senator Chuck Schumer, consider yourself lucky. Schumer is now calling for an investigation into last Tuesday's utterly predictable clusterfuck, which left thousands languishing in lines far from the area where President Obama took his mangled oath of office. (Some were reduced to calling family at home and listening to Obama's address on TV via cell phone!) The Daily News obtained an e-mail sent to Schumer from one bitter ticket winner named Cathy Shannon, who writes, "I'm sorry I was a winner, as now I am a big loser. After waiting on line for 3-1/2 hours... I actually got to miss the event. It was disgraceful... The most disorganized event I ever attended in my life. Schumer says he "feels terrible" and promises he'll make it up to everyone in 2012!
Ikea's First Weekend: All Quiet on the Western Front
Red Hook seemed eerily quiet on Saturday, as we checked out the traffic flow on Columbia and Van Brunt Streets on the West Side of the neighborhood. Any prediction of overwhelming weekend gridlock seemed not to be panning out-- except for one Ikea bus ferrying people from Boro Hall, the scene seemed as quiet and bucolic as any summer weekend in years past. Indeed, maybe even quieter, as people who'd normally be out at the Van Brunt shops were checking out the Swedish wares. Local shops seemed to realize this-- we spotted a few signs like the ones above attempting to draw people away from the store.
