Get Drunk And Carve A Pumpkin At Crest Hardware This Weekend
Crest, the best hardware store/art hub in the world, is hosting their 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and Party tomorrow night. The event is free if you aren't carving a pumpkin, and in return for nothing you'll get free drinks, free food (from the Meat Hook), and music. For those who want to try their hand at carving a pumpkin, it'll cost five bucks—because there are sweet prizes at stake. Just don't pick up the carving knife if you've had too many of those free drinks... did we mention there will be cider and rum?

Sneak Peek At The Crest Hardware Art Show, Coming This Weekend
This Saturday marks Williamsburg's fourth annual Crest Hardware Crest Fest, the kick-off celebration to the six-week Crest Hardware Art Show. The family-run, old-school hardware store is something of a neighborhood institution, and every summer, they turn their space into a temporary gallery for neighborhood artists, who build hardware-inspired pieces you won't find anywhere else.
Joseph Franquinha, Crest Hardware
Joe Franquinha and his father run Crest Hardware store in Williamsburg. In the '90s the shop began hosting a unique art show, which integrated various artists' pieces into the shelves amongst the hardware supplies (watch a video about it on PBS). After a hiatus, they brought the show back this past weekend with a grand celebration, and we highly recommend checking it out. The Crest Hardware Art Show runs through July 11th; now, meet the manager/co-curator...
