Last week a photograph of Chloe Sevigny and Pauly D surfaced, showing the two enjoying each other's company courtside at a Knicks game. The image was like a modern day The Kiss, and we sort of wanted to believe that these two were star-crossed lovers... but now the truth has surfaced: the two are not an item. Not even a little bit! In a recent interview, Sevigny explained:
Reality Check: Chloe Sevigny Is Not Dating Pauly D
Park Slope: Celebrity Relationship Killer?
Did Park Slope break up Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift? The two dated briefly, but now People reports that they've already called it quits. We blame their decision to take the relationship to the Park Slope level a bit too soon. The neighborhood has traditionally been filled with celebrity couples that are really there, you know? A Jennifer Connelly and a Paul Bettany, a Maggie Gyllenhaal and a Peter Sarsgaard... these are couples who are ready for Park Slope. The strollers, the brownstones, the Co-op... there's a lot of pressure there, this is grown up stuff!
Springsteen Makes Cameo In Couple's Engagement Photo
Last year Will Ferrell popped up in a couple's engagement photo (the groom was a PA on his movie The Other Guys), and now The Boss is following his lead. Ed Dwyer and Jennifer Smith recently shot their announcement photo on the beach in Manasquan, telling APP they "kept putting them off" due to the crowds there all summer.
Couple on Vespa Chase Down Crook
A Carroll Gardens woman said a couple on a motorized scooter saved her cell phone from the hands of a thief last week. The victim said she was walking her dog while talking on her cell phone on the evening of August 10th. As she bent to pick up her dog's "business," a 13-year-old and his accomplice rushed up and snatched the phone from her hand. But like lightning, a couple on a Vespa swooped in and chased the kids to Union Street, where the woman jumped off, grabbed the phone, and jumped back on to ride away. Cops arrested the teen and the phone was returned. All in a day's work for the Brooklyn Vespers!
"Unique" Area Couple To Marry In Shark Tank
This is really just an excuse to bring up the best summer movie of all time: JAWS. A New York couple has decided to get married in a shark tank this Sunday, but will April Pignataro and Michael Curry need a bigger (love) boat?
Hit And Run Driver Wanted Sister To Cover For Him
On Wednesday afternoon, DOT officials had met with the pastor at Our Lady Queen of Peace church on Staten Island to discuss the problem of reckless drivers on the street that runs by the church and its school. Rev. Pancrose Kalist warned city officials about the dangerous situation on New Dorp Lane, where crossing guards routinely witness drivers blasting by them and running the red light. Six hours after his meeting, an elderly married couple was killed by a hit-and-run driver with numerous traffic violations who sped through a red light.
Cabbie Claims Couple's Embrace Was "Distracting"
It's a game of he said/he said with this story of a gay couple being kicked to the curb by a cabbie. Paul Bruno and his partner were allegedly embracing in Medhat Mohamed's cab Monday night in the East Village, when they say the driver tossed them, declaring: "Hugging is not allowed in here!"
Looking For NYC Marathon Proposal Couple
Reader Sherri Jackson took this picture during the NYC Marathon yesterday and wonders if someone could help identify the people in it:
This runner stopped along the NYC Marathon course, right after mile 16 (coming off the 59th St. Bridge into Manhattan) and proposed to his girl. He pulled a ring out of his pocket (I'm assuming it was a ring box - it was something black and square) and they had a few moments. I didn't think to get a shot of his bib number to identify him, so I'm hoping that people might link to this pic on facebook or twitter in hopes that it'll get to this couple. I'm sure they'd love to have it. :-) I have a couple more photos, so if they find me, they can email me: sherri [at] sherrijackson.com (Plus, they might need a wedding photographer)
Leap Year Lovers on Today
Nothing says romance like a public proposal in The Daily News. Marina Maiuri stood atop the Empire State Building (which is so "Sleepless in Seattle") to have her photo snapped by the paper on the observation deck; but she wasn't looking for love, she was looking to propose.
