The MTA wants everyone to "See Something, Say Something" forever, and people are doing just that. Last night, Long Island Rail Road service between Huntington and Hicksville on the Port Jefferson line was suspended, thanks to some white coolers.
Guess What Suspended LIRR Service For 2 Hours? Coolers
Near Record High Today, Cooler and Windy Tomorrow
Yesterday turned out to be twenty degrees warmer than normal. It hasn't been that above normal since last April! Unusually warm weather will continue today. Both the Weather Service and AccuWeather think this afternoon's maximum temperature will approach the record high of 68 degrees set in 1981. If it is to get that warm, these morning clouds have got to disappear! The less sanguinary Weather Channel is calling for a high near 60. Either way that should be enough warmth to melt the remaining two inches of snow on the ground at the Central Park Zoo.
Dry Today, Maybe Rain Tomorrow
Thanks to a high pressure system the weather will be unveventful for this afternoon's game at Yankee Stadium. The temperature should be around 60 degrees when the Hilltoppers take the field against the dreaded Rangers. Low clouds will move in as the game progresses but that's a plus as the clouds will slow down the evening cooling.
Temperatures Return to Normal
Less than a week ago April's average temperature was running almost a degree below normal. That's not the case anymore! The last four days, with one record high and one tie, were 19.75 degrees above average, meaning April will wind up a couple of degrees warmer than normal.
Feeling More Like Fall by Weekend
In addition to cooler weather the other meteorological sign that fall has arrived is the speeding up of the atmosphere. The next couple of days will see a bam bam bam of successive weather systems. A weak cold front came through early this morning to bring us clear skies for the day. With any luck the high will reach the mid 70s this afternoon.
Last Sunny Day
Today is the last day to enjoy the current dry spell. The high pressure system that's given the city clear skies is beginning to move away. Before it leaves we should have a sunny and seasonable day with a high in the lower 70s..
