This morning, Sesame Street favorites Grover, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and Rosita crashed Good Morning America and worked on their morning talk show skills. Video: Cookie Monster Channels His Inner Tom Waits

Did you ever notice how much Tom Waits sounds like Cookie Monster? (Or vice versa, since Waits was playing in an R&B/soul band called The Systems by 1965, and Cookie Monster wasn't introduced to the world until 1969.) Well, someone did, and here's their mash-up of the two, with Mr. Monster singing Waits's "God's Away on Business." more ›

Video: Cookie Monster Rocks SNL With Jeff Bridges

After weeks of furry-ously campaigning, the Cookie Monster succeeded in his quest to host make an appearance on Saturday Night Live last night. He sang "Silver Bells" with host Jeff Bridges, who brought his affable presence (though not enough Lebowski charm) to the final show of 2010. The episode brought the usual mix of SNL sweet spots: a laugh-free political cold-open, an effervescent Miley Cyrus Show (with added salvia references), Bill Hader's fantastic Julian Assange (by-way-of Count Von Count) parody, and a team-up by Weekend Update all-stars Gov. Paterson, Stefon, and Snookie to sing “O Christmas Tree.” Click through to see those videos, plus a "Crunkmas" commercial, and the new Lonely Island digital short, "I Just Had Sex," featuring cameos by Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, John McEnroe, and Akon (and serious, if we just had sex with Joanna Newsom, we'd be shouting about it too). more ›

Sesame Street Characters Come Alive, Ask For Money

Costumed characters from Sesame Street and other children's shows have become a regular fixture in Midtown, where they can make about $80 per day posing for photos with tourists, according to the Post. The tabloid spoke with the men behind the masks, and learned that there's a science to figuring out the rates. "I charge one dollar for some people, and more for others," said José Montier, 40, who dresses as Cookie Monster. "It depends on if they're a big group, if they look like they're rich." more ›

Sesame Gang Talks Weaves, Cookies on Tyra

The Sesame Street gang is stopping by today's Tyra, and we've got a sneak peek of Elmo, Rosita and Cookie Monster — who were all there in celebration of their show's 40th anniversary. But what's happening in these above photos? We're told: "Rosita, who reveals she rocks her natural hair and does not use weaves, checks Tyra's hair for weave tracks." And OK! Magazine points out that "it looks like Cookie Monster has his hand on Tyra’s booty!" Innocence: lost. more ›

Video: Cookie Monster & Friends Perform Underground

The bleak underground recently got a little brighter with the Xylopholks (who you've seen here before). The ragtime-playin' troupe dons colorful, furry costumes while they play in the subway system, including a Cookie Monster, a chicken, a pink gorilla, and a skunk. They recently talked to Flavorpill about the upcoming humid season, and said, "When we first started out, Pinky (Bridget) thought about doing a swimsuit version for the summer." This might even draw more attention from the cops, however, who have already nabbed them for playing illegally. Check out their style in the video... more ›
