And on Friday, many of her students will stage a walk out in protest of her arrest. “There are so many teachers in this school who say things like this and they don’t get arrested,” senior Omar Elsayed told Brooklyn Paper. “It’s understandable, teaching is stressful. Columbine-Threat Teacher Was Just "Venting"

Teacher Sabrina Milo, who was arrested after threatening to bring a machine gun to her Brooklyn high school and "settle some scores," was released from Rikers on $100,000 bail yesterday and returned to her home on Staten Island. A few neighbors seem worried to have her around; one man who lives across the street said, "I think she should be locked up." However, Milo's lawyer insists it was all a big misunderstanding: "No reasonable person who knows Ms. Milo would have believed that she meant her alleged comments as anything but an exaggerated personal venting," he told the Staten Island Advance. Maybe, but shouldn't a teacher know better than to joke about that kind of stuff in school? more ›

Long Island Teens Busted For Planning School Attack

Two Long Island teenagers were busted last week for planning to bomb their school and shoot students and faculty. Christopher Franko, 17, and Dana Saltzman, 16, were arrested after Franko's social worker alerted cops that he may have been plotting an attack on Connetquot High School, which Franko had also planned but failed to attack on April 20, 2007—the eighth anniversary of the Columbine shootings. They were apparently waiting for Franko to turn 18 so they could buy guns, and then open fire near the language arts classrooms, because "the largest concentration of students are in [that] area," Dep. Insp. Michael Shanahan told Newsday (subscription required). more ›
