The chef Daniel Boulud unveiled his newest space, called DBGB Kitchen and Bar, to the media this past weekend. Located on the Bowery, the 194-seat “sausage and beer” restaurant (including a 14-seat private dining room and 40 more in the more casual bar area) has a projected opening date of the first week in June and is still very much under construction: On Saturday, chairs were wrapped up in paper and buckets of Spackle were stacked behind the bar. The chef nonetheless took the unusual move of laying his plywood bare and sharing some bites from the restaurant’s opening menu.

Carmellini to Take Over Tasting Room Space?
Eater’s careful reading of Community Board 2’s upcoming licensing meeting agenda next Tuesday has uncovered that former A Voce chef Andrew Carmellini seems poised to take over the former Tasting Room space, at 264 Elizabeth Street. Chef Colin Alevras closed the much missed Tasting Room restaurant in early June.
"Eating Their Words" Series Dusting Off Dinner Theater
When Eater reported on the Elizabeth Street Tasting Room location closing last week and mentioned “a dinner theater event” as a negative prognostic sign, chef-owner Colin Alevras stepped up to the comments section to defend the event and its organizer: “Marlo produced a fantastic event,” wrote Alevras, while confirming the Tasting Room’s closing, “and I hope to be able to work with her again in the future.”
