A spectator at Fenway Park in Boston took to the field and interrupted the game during last night's Red Sox-Yankees rubber match. With the game still tied 1-1 at the bottom of the 7th inning, Boston first baseman Eric Hinske was leading off for the Sox and was the first batter to face pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who relieved Roger Clemens. Hinske managed a double to left field after facing a full count at the plate and was practically chased to second base by an idiot who leapt to the field and raced to high-five the Boston baserunner.

Javier Vasquez had another disappointing outing. His first two innings were sharp, he retired the first six batters he faced. Vasquez ran into trouble in the bottom of the third. He walked Jody Gerut, then balked allowing Gerut to get to second. He seemed to recover, by getting two consecutive outs, but then gave up a home run to Coco Crisp. Vasquez then gave up a single to Omar Visquel, Walked Tarvis Hafner, threw a wild pitch and then gave up a deep double to Victor Martinez. it seems like Vasquez has too many innings like this. 4-1 Indians after three innings.
Two of the three errors were made by players out of their natural environment. Mike Piazza, playing 1st, had a fielding error when a ball bounced off his chest followed by a wild throw. Ty Wiggington, playing 2nd base, threw off target to home on a relay. Hopefully, Jose Reyes can make a quick trip up from his rehab assignments to step in at 2nd base. The third error was committed by Matt Ginter when he threw a ball high, pulling Piazza off the base. As for Piazza, Gothamist wonders at what point his deficiencies at 1st make him a lesser liability when he's behind the plate. Piazza has played more at 1st this season than as a catcher.
