Claire Danes Suffering Side Effects Of Selling Out

Claire Danes Suffering Side Effects Of Selling Out

Actress, New Yorker, and spokeswoman Claire Danes has been shilling for an eyelash enhancement product called Latisse (which you knew already), and she may not be able to save face from the selling out... like, literally. Page Six claims that the actress has suffered from the product's skin hyperpigmentation side effect—giving her purple and yellow coloring around her eyes that is allegedly "hard" to cover up. A source told the gossip column that "Danes' makeup artist has to plaster on concealer" to make her presentable. more ›

Former '90s Star For Sale!

Former '90s Star For Sale!

Claire Danes is probably pining for the days she had to worry about stalkers, now that she's stalking out corporate payouts! She recently shilled for an eyelash enhancement product called Latisse (brought to you by the Botox folk), and tomorrow she'll be giving painting demos in Grand Central Terminal! Or something. According to a press release we received, this is to celebrate the launch of Valspar Paint’s new Hi-DEF Advanced Color System. Get there tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. to check out the actress formerly known as Angela Chase paint walls. (Speaking of which, it was Chase who once said, “I bet people can actually die of embarrassment. I bet it’s been medically proven.") To be fair, tomorrow's event is also to benefit art advocacy non-profit United States Artists (though this doesn't mean Danes isn't getting paid). Still, Daria would never pull this shit. more ›

Claire Danes Pretty Much Hates Brooklyn

Claire Danes Pretty Much Hates Brooklyn

Although Angela Chase would have loved it, it's not like Claire Danes ever seemed like much of an outer-borough girl — and NY Mag recently discovered just how Manhattan she really is. The actress told them, “I do love walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, I have to say." But after thinking about it realized she's never gotten much further than DUMBO. Her husband defended her, saying, "You’re speaking to the most politely pro-Manhattanite person that you’ve ever met, right here." They then referred to Prospect Park as "a big patch of grass somewhere there." more ›

Metropolitan Museum of...Fashion

Anna Wintour, Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière, and Cate Blanchett hosted last night's annual Costume Institute gala, which was a celebration of Paul Poiret, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Poirot was the pioneer in modern fashion, and freed women from petticoats and corsets - though many, even those in attendance last night, aren't familiar with him. Everyone did their best to dress "in the spirit of" the King of Fashion however, including: Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kirsten Dunst, Renée Zellweger and many other bold-faced names (photos here). more ›

Casting Corner: Catwoman & Shopgirl

Steve Martin's novella, Shopgirl, will start filming in mid-October, with Martin playing Ray, Claire Danes as glove salesgirl Mirabelle, and Jason Schwartzman as her feckless but like-aged suitor, Jeremy. Originally Jimmy Fallon was mentioned as a possible candidate for the role of Jeremy, but may have had to drop out, due to his Saturday Night Live commitments as well as filming Taxi with Queen Latifah and Gisele Bundchen here in NY. In this case, Gothamist is pleased with the casting Schwartzman, because it means that Max Fischer meets Angela Chase. [Via Variety]
