The family of the Yale graduate student who was killed by a lab technician has filed a lawsuit against the school, accusing the Ivy League institution of failing to protect women. A statement released lawyer Joseph Tacopina said that Yale had "long taken inadequate steps to ensure the safety and security of women on its campus. Yale's persistent tolerance of sexual harassment and sexual assaults on campus caused students to file a Title IX Complaint against Yale University. And, just five days before she was to be married, Annie Le was a victim of that environment."

The suit, which called the alleged attack "violent and sadistic," says, "[Nafissatou] Diallo now brings this lawsuit to vindicate her rights, to assert her dignity as a woman, to hold Dominique Strauss-Kahn accountable for the violent and deplorable acts that he committed against her in Room 2806 [the luxury suite at the Sofitel], to teach her young [15-year-old] daughter that no man—regardless of how much money, power and influence he has—should ever be allowed to violate her body, and to stand up for all women who have been raped, sexually assaulted and/or abused throughout the world but who are too afraid to speak out.”
Kenneth Moreno's Wife To Rape Accuser: "She Can Go To Hell"
Julia Moreno, wife of former NYPD officer Kenneth Moreno, who was acquitted on charges of raping a woman in her East Village apartment on Thursday, told reporters that her husband's accuser "should go to jail for this." Telling the Post that the victim "had two days to make up this story with her lawyer friends before she went to the hospital," and added "She can go to hell." Family of Woman Killed by Alleged DWI Cop Sues City
On September 27th, off-duty NYPD officer Andrew Kelly fatally ran over pedestrian Vionique Valnord, 32, as she tried to hail a cab after a wedding party in Flatlands. Though first responders said Kelly's breath smelled boozy and he was slurring his speech, his system was devoid of alcohol when his blood was finally tested... seven hours later. Kelly had refused a Breathalyzer test at the scene (allegedly telling officers, "You're going to have to tie me down") and investigators had to get court order to draw his blood at Kings County Hospital. Now Valnord's family is suing the city, and accusing Kelly's fellow NYPD officers of helping in a cover-up.
Commune Leader Sues Old Member Over Shooting
In August, a jury found Rebekah Johnson not guilty of the 2006 shooting of a commune leader on Staten Island. Even though Ganas leader Jeffrey Gross identified Johnson as his shooter, the jury believed Johnson's defense lawyer who suggested it was too dark for Gross to see a shooter. But now Gross is filing a civil lawsuit against Johnson, telling reporters today, "Rebekah Johnson shot me six times... there's not a doubt in my mind. She stalked and harassed me for two years." Gross added that Johnson should be charged for the AK-47 and 1,000 rounds of ammo found in her Philadelphia apartment (she lived there while on the lam). Gross says he still fears for his life.
