If you've ever wandered around Williamsburg, you've probably walked past the City Reliquary, a tiny storefront on Metropolitan Avenue filled from floor to ceiling with ephemera, curios, and found objects with bits of NYC history etched into them. The Reliquary is technically a not-for-profit community museum, but it feels more like a time machine, a place filled with quirky remnants of the city's past—exhibits have included a collection of vintage Williamsburg Bridge postcards and a reconstruction of a Staten Island grotto. Not everything is about the days of yore: the museum is currently showcasing a man who obsessively documents his pizza-eating travels across the city. We spoke to Reliquary founder Dave Herman about where he finds his objects and the Led Zeppelin/bourbon/pie party the museum is hosting this weekend.

Photos: Bicycle Fetish Day 2010
Check out some colorful photos from the Sixth Annual Bicycle Fetish Day, which took over a sleepy block of Havemeyer Street in Williamsburg Saturday. As usual, members of the local bike clubs represented with their extravagantly ornamented bikes, there were BMX tricksters courtesy of POST Bike Shop, and cycling information booths from local biking groups.
Last Night's Firefighter Auction Action!
Last night the City Reliquary pretty much brought the FDNY Calendar to life with a Fire Sale! Firefighters took to the Knitting Factory stage to sell... themselves, all to benefit the Reliquary (which is trying to stay afloat). Bids started at $50 and went over 300 bucks; winners were promised "a real life opportunity to take one of New York’s Bravest out on the town for a night of romance and adventure."
Miss G Train Hails From Queens
Miss G Train has officially been crowned. Last Thursday the City Reliquary held their pageant for the line, and fittingly the evening was met with some hold ups — the Brooklyn Paper reports that one judge was delayed, and two contestants never even showed up.
Bicycle Love Fest In Williamsburg
On Saturday, the City Reliquary Museum held its fifth annual Bicycle Fetish Day. The event celebrating bicycle culture was held on Havemeyer Street in Williamsburg and Jim Kiernan took photographs (some above) of bike club members, wheels, and more—see his photographs here.
