Can one get any further down than rock bottom? Lindsay Lohan is our one-woman guinea pig, determined to find out. As her brother faces death threats on Long Island, LiLo is out in Los Angeles finishing up some community service and courting America's most-hated bachelor: Chris Brown. Yesterday, after applauding him for his VMA performance, she Tweeted: "@chrisbrown wanna meet?" So far, he has yet to respond.
Jay-Z And Lindsay Lohan Have Very Opposing Views On Chris Brown
Chris Brown Wants A "Second Chance" Like Charlie Sheen, Casey Anthony Got
Roy Orbison eyewear fan and R&B "hipster" Chris Brown performed souped up auto-tuned hits from his album F.A.M.E. on the Today Show yesterday, and apparently it was the largest crowd to ever show up for a taping. But Brown, who trashed Good Morning America back in March and always has a chip on his shoulder, indignantly responded to a perceived "backlash" against his Today show appearance with the Tweet:
Things That Are Too Long: The Line For Chris Brown's Today Show Performance
This is depressing. This morning Chris Brown performed on the Today show, where fans had been lined up and camped out for days to catch a glimpse of his performance. One man on Twitter noted, "They're comparing the line for Chris Brown's Today show appearance to a Harry Potter midnight screening." Except with Harry Potter everything is magical, and with Chris Brown everything seems to be abusive and homophobic.
Video: Chris Brown Explains Talking Points
Good Morning America continued coverage of its Tuesday contretemps with performer Chris Brown by airing Brown's quasi-apology this morning. Brown appeared on BET's 106 and Park yesterday and referred to his temper tantrum at ABC's Times Square studios (which included breaking a window), "First of all, I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, or anybody who was offended or really looked, and [was] disappointed at my actions. Because I'm disappointed in the way I acted." And he explained how his team sends out talking points to interviewers:
Chris Brown Sorry For GMA Freak Out, But Felt He Was Being Exploited
A day after freaking out and smashing a window in a dressing room at ABC's Times Square studios, singer Chris Brown has apologized for his behavior. On BET's 106 and Park Brown said, "First of all, I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, or anybody who was offended or really looked, and [was] disappointed at my actions. Because I'm disappointed in the way I acted."
Chris Brown Won't Face Charges For Good Morning America Freak Out
The apparently temperamental singer Chris Brown will not be investigated by the NYPD for his temper tantrum at ABC's Times Square studios—because ABC won't press charges. That's probably because, even though Brown had a temper tantrum and smashed a window in a dressing room yesterday, Good Morning America wants him back on the show!
How Does Chris Brown Unwind After A Good Morning America Freak Out? Basketball On West 4th, OFCO
Earlier today, singer Chris Brown had a meltdown/tantrum/something that involved a smashed window and leaving ABC's Times Square studios shirtless after his Good Morning America segment. He was on the morning talk show to promote his new album, F.A.M.E., and it's suspected he was unhappy that he was asked about his felony assault for beating former girlfriend Rihanna. So, how does one possibly deal with the stress of being famous and having to deal with the past? By joining a pickup basketball game in the Village!
Chris Brown Melts Down At Good Morning America, Breaks Window Then Tweets
Chris Brown's new album F.A.M.E. is out today, and the troubled singer was on Good Morning America to promote his new work. But he did not like it when host Robin Roberts wanted to ask about the 2009 incident where he beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna. TMZ reports, "After the interview, Brown freaked out, storming into his dressing room and screaming so loud, the people in hair and makeup became alarmed and called security... one source present tells us he smashed a window in his dressing room, and the glass shattered and some shards fell onto 43rd and Broadway. ABC security tells TMZ ... the window was shattered with a chair."
Spider-Man Musical's Problems Get Spoofed On SNL
British comedian Russell Brand is doing the publicity push for his new film (a remake of the Dudley Moore classic, Arthur) and with that comes hosting Saturday Night Live. As expected, he played a number of British characters in sketches—our favorite was in the British movie commercial and if you're a fan of gritty British crime dramas, it's up your alley—but our favorite bit was a tribute to the beleaguered Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical, by way of a personal injury lawyer commercial. Video: Naked Model's Hair Catches Fire At Diddy's Party
The launch of Diddy's latest album, Last Train to Paris, has been a bit bumpy here in New York. First there was the confusion caused when the album tried to take over a SoHo train station (not to mention the strange sight of Diddy teaching the Bieber to walk) and now the FDNY are involved? Turns out the Fire Department was called in on Tuesday night to assist at the album's launch party (atop the midtown hotel the London NYC) after a model in a hot tub caught on fire. Exactly. Better to just jump to the video, eh?
Chris Brown Hits Back At Critics By Reading To Kids
National prize Chris Brown has been asked to read to children at a Harlem charter school. The controversial singer, who is trying to rehabilitate his image, was invited to attend and participate in the annual "Family Read Night" at Sisulu-Walker Charter School on Nov. 18. Despite his past troubles, some seem ready to forgive and forget; one parent at the school told the Daily News, "He's coming to read to the children. He apologized on TV. Sometimes in real life we make mistakes." And sometimes we do this in real life, then ask a convicted 20-year old clown to be a role model to our kids!
Mary J. Blige Doesn't Want Drama From Husband
At least that's what the Daily News' sources imply: "Hip-Hop diva Mary J. Blige smacked her husband for checking out a waitress at her CD release party this week and warned him, 'You ain't going Chris Brown on me,' witnesses said." Blige's spokeswoman said of her client and Blige's husband Kendu Issacs, "They're as happy as can be. They're spending the holidays together with their three children. Everything's great," while a friend of Blige says maybe "haters" may have "misunderstood a joke Mary and Kendu were sharing."
GMA: Adam Lambert, No; Chris Brown, Yes
After Adam Lambert's racy, same-sex kiss-and-simulated blow job performance on the American Music Awards, Good Morning America cancelled the singer's performance on the morning show. But now it turns out that GMA is welcoming admitted, convicted girlfriend-beater Chris Brown to the program next week.
Rihanna and Chris Brown Both Staying at Trump Tower
The Rihanna and Chris Brown saga has wormed its way into the Big Apple. Eyebrows are being raised after the pair both checked into the Trump International Hotel & Tower this weekend—separately of course. As far as everyone knows, the two stayed separate, something that Brown needs to do to keep his nose clean after a judge ordered him to stay 50 yards away from the onetime "Song of the Summer" queen. Still the Post tries its best to drum up intrigue about the possibility of the two crossing paths around the Columbus Circle lodge, noting the extraordinary effort they both put forth to throw off paparazzi with decoy vehicles. That didn't stop the paper from putting together a loose timeline for their time spent here, as well as postulating, "Could they be making sweet music again?" Brown, who just last week finally apologized for the violent attack of his ex back in February, is due in court next week to receive sentencing for the plea deal he struck with prosecutors. After spending the weekend going to the movies and visiting a childhood friend in Harlem, a member of his entourage told the Post he checked out of the hotel once he realized "that she checked in."
Z100 Spreads a Little Holiday Cheer to the Kids at MSG
Last night at the Garden was the annual Christmas concert thrown by Z100 known as the Jingle Ball. Perusing a list of its performers is a bit of an eye-opening experience for some of us in realizing just how long it's been since we had "the phrase that pays" rolling off the tips of our tongues. But dare we say that in its thirteenth year, the Jingle Ball has been running for long enough to be considered an adolescent institution here in the Big Apple. Plus we can always delude ourselves of our relative youth status by reading the Daily News description of the tweenage girls "having one heck of a good time."
Marbury Laughs, Sings, Admits to Luring Intern Into Car
Stephon Marbury turned in a typical performance during and after his testimony at the sexual harassment trial that pits former Knicks marketing executive Anucha Browne Sanders against Knicks president and coach Isiah Thomas. And by typical, we mean that he testified that when he first found out about the lawsuit, he "laughed" - "I meant it was more of a joke than anything" - and treated reporters to some singing when they questioned him.
Word on the (Sesame) Street
Hopefully Monday's season opener of Sesame Street will help in sweepin' these clouds away! The new season will begin how it always does, by determining the educational needs of their tv-watching tot demographic.
The TRL Awards
You know those screaming kids who stand outside of 1515 Broadway in Times Square when they should really be in school? They have signs declaring their love for someone we've never heard of and their high pitched shrills are often heard below 14th. They are there because of MTV's TRL (Total Request Live), today's version of what we used to call the Top 5 at 5 (when we actually had to call in to place our vote, because there was no texting or online voting yet).
