Vanity Fair editor and restaurateur Graydon Carter spilled some details about the resurrection of the Beatrice Inn, restaurant and once-hot spot (before the D-list moved in) that closed in 2009. But it doesn't seem like Chloe Sevigny has any reason to root for it anymore.
New Beatrice Inn Will Be Cozy, With No Smoking Or Paul Sevigny
Ryan Gosling Allegedly "Checked Out" Chloe Sevigny On The Street (Also, They Look Alike)
Actress Chloe Sevigny is currently taking a break post-Big Love, right here at her East Village home, where she told the Daily News, "I hate being busy in New York. I'd rather just sit in Tompkins Square Park all day and not do anything." During the little interview she reveals a few things, like how she enjoys fashion and cocktails—preferably together (who knew!?!), but mostly she sticks to the details about where you can find her. She added, "I go to this party on Sundays at Sway, it's like a Smiths night thing. I go eat at Raoul's all the time... or Omen... Veselka."
Reality Check: Chloe Sevigny Is Not Dating Pauly D
Last week a photograph of Chloe Sevigny and Pauly D surfaced, showing the two enjoying each other's company courtside at a Knicks game. The image was like a modern day The Kiss, and we sort of wanted to believe that these two were star-crossed lovers... but now the truth has surfaced: the two are not an item. Not even a little bit! In a recent interview, Sevigny explained:
Doomsday Update II: Chloe Sevigny Dating Pauly D?
It's been a few days since anything apocalyptic has happened, or so we thought. Last we checked in on the universe, blackbirds and doves were falling dead from the sky, the sea levels were rising, fish were going belly up in the river, and now the most convincing End of Days sign: Chloe Sevigny is dating Jersey Shore's Pauly D. Maybe! While headlines are stating it as a fact, the only "proof" seems to be these photos taken at a Knicks game last Wednesday.
Is Chloë Sevigny Neglecting Her Community?
Remember when Chloë Sevigny said in an interview that she wanted to join her community board (Manhattan's CB 3) so she could "help preserve some of the older buildings, try and save as many as possible and try to stop them from building as high." Turns out people took that seriously! The Villager checked in on her application status recently and reports back that she hasn't even applied. Borough President Scott Stringer told them, "We are waiting for the application and we are looking forward to the interview." Until then, the starlet is partially responsible for every high-rise that goes up in the neighborhood. [via EV Grieve]
Is Chloë Sevigny Community Board Material?
In that Bust Magazine interview Chloë Sevigny recently did, she mentioned being interested in joining her community board (Manhattan's CB 3), saying she'd like to "help preserve some of the older buildings, try and save as many as possible and try to stop them from building as high."
Video: Chloë Sevigny Talks The EV, Again
Chloë Sevigny loves the East Village (when those pesky NYU kids aren't around), and recently took Bust Magazine on a little tour of her home turf... in which she trashed those other nearby neighborhoods. In the below video she declares: "I would never go to the Lower East Side or Nolita. No. I still feel like the East Village retains some of its weirdo vibe. People that moved to the East Village in the '70s and '80s are now, you know, older and still in their rent controlled apartments, so you still see these weirdo-freakos around. I feel like the East Village has that more than any of the other neighborhoods."
R.I.P. Beatrice Inn?
Despite the efforts of Chloe Sevigny's t-shirt, it looks like the West Village's Beatrice Inn, which has been closed since April, will not reopen. The NY Post reports that in order to get the party started again, "they'd have to pay $23,000 in fines, install a fire door that matches the period exterior of the building, and put in a sprinkler system." And since their liquor license runs out next year, and will not be renewed at that time, the owners have decided to call it quits. Looks like the neighbors win this one. In the past they had complained about the club, including the late-night traffic that streamed into an apartment upstairs which was used as a VIP lounge for the often A-list clientele. Owner Paul Sevigny even moved one such neighbor into the VIP lounge apartment rent-free when he complained about the noise in his own residence, which was above the noisy dance floor.
Save the Nightlife from... Something
While you were out enjoying the night for no reason, others were out enjoying the night for a cause. And that cause is to be able to enjoy many nights, more often, forever and ever. The Nightlife Preservation Community... is something that exists, and it was launched by the NY Nightlife Association on Monday. It's here to help you go out more often, stay out later, and age quicker—like Chloe Sevigny over there.
Original "Kid" Chloe Sevigny On The East Village
Besides saying that she supports the Beatrice Inn (run by her brother Paul), actress Chloe Sevigny discussed the East Village with the Observer (while hosting a party for Kiehl's) last week. She summed up how the neighborhood has changed, "Oh, you know, it's bank, nail salon, bank, nail salon, bank, nail salon. The Subway across the street from Veselka, it's just an eyesore. The bigger chains coming in everywhere, it's depressing. You know what really bugs me about the neighborhood, actually? The students! The N.Y.U. kids and they've opened an SVA dorm near my house, so now it's even more." The wife says that if she did move from the EV, she'd go back to Gramercy Park. [Via EV Grieve]
Natasha Lyonne Alive and Live Off-Broadway
Natasha Lyonne – remember her? – has resurfaced, and not at the morgue! In fact, the young hellion seems to be doing quite well for herself – at least that’s the portrait painted by this convivial Times profile, in which reporter Robert Simonson smokes Marlboro Lights with her on the roof of Theater Row, where she’s to appear in the new Mike Leigh play Two Thousand Years. Though off the horse, the actress isn’t all yoga and Celestial Seasonings – she’s quick to point out that she usually smokes Marlboro 72’s, because they’re “like something Robert Mitchum would smoke.”
Why the Rich Are Different
So, there's a Page Six item that involves the usual Page Six details: A rich New Yorker (a celebrity dentist with patients "Donald Trump, Sumner Redstone, Harvey Weinstein, Bruce Springsteen, Kathie Lee Gifford, Christie Brinkley, Chloe Sevigny, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Bridget Hall") who has a house in the Hamptons. But then you find out that the rich dentist made his own son sue him for damages about he and his son took a spill on a Vespa. Dr. Larry Rosenthal's son managed to get $85,000 from his dad's insurance company. Apparently the money went to tending to the son's medical bills and the rest went into a trust, but Rosenthal, who had a "punctured lung, broken ribs and other injuries after being dragged by a car that hit him as he lay on the road" didn't sue anyone. Our crazy legal system!
