If you get caught staring, dumbfounded, at the list of beers at the recently opened 4th Avenue Pub, there’s good reason. There are 24 beers on tap, with another 31 bottles, and many of them are unique picks not usually seen around the area. If this happens, just ask the bartender. Without speaking he’ll quickly cock his body to the side and point to a large poster of the Belgium beer, Delirium Tremens, which reads “The greatest beer in the world.” Get it. It’s very good. If your feeling more like a bottled or canned beer, ask him once again. “This is the greatest beer you can buy in a can," he’ll say as he hands you a Dale’s Pale Ale. It, also, is very good.

Park Slope development is nothing new. But Fourth Ave. as a foodie destination? Now that’s news. The NY Sun has the write-up, marking the trend with the recent arrival of Sheep Station, an Australian pub with no sign (no sign that we’ve seen at least), following Cherry Tree and Mule.

It's that time of year again: when everyone we know starts asking if the Cherry Trees in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden have bloomed. Yeah, we know, we need to get a more interesting group of friends. From now on, we'll just check out this handy Cherry Tree Blossom Map prepared by the BBG. Looks like there's some hot cherry action around the lake this week, but so far nothing on the main cherry tree lawn. That makes sense, since the big Sakura Festival isn't until April 29th. [Related: a list of all the cherry tree types at the garden, a photo album from past Sakura festivals, and here are some shots of the blooms.]
