Chad Johnson, of Medford, was charged with killing a North Patchogue woman after hiring her for sex on Craigslist for $80. Suffolk County Detective Sgt. Robert Doyle said that Jennifer Papain was choked to death and that Johnson led police to a shallow grave off the LIE, "He hired her for a sex act and at a certain point during their encounter he wanted his money back
which led him to choke the victim to death." The Long Island Press notes that Doyle "added that in the past, Johnson has faced charges for choking other people." Johnson pleaded not guilty and his lawyer claims he has a "strong defense." Papain was last seen on March 24 and Newsday reports that Johnson "became a person of interest after police determined he was the last one to see Papain alive."

Pennington Waits for Bengals D with Open Arms
Chad Pennington couldn't pick a better game to save his starting job. Some have said this could be the quarterback's last chance to make an impression. Given Coach Eric Mangini's loyalty, that may not be the case, but even the Jets offense should find openings against a suspect Bengals defense. Cincinnati has been beset by injuries to its linebacking corps and on offense. Carson Palmer and his wide-receiving duo of Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh don't work as well when Rudi Johnson has a hamstring injury and right tackle Willie Anderson misses time.
At Least It Was Entertaining
On the previous drive the Giants allowed Bengal quarterback Jon Kitna to complete a 19-yard pass to receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh on fourth-down and 10 to set up the winning score. Houshmandzadeh, whose name is so long they have to use a smaller font on his jersey, was double covered, but managed to make the play anyway. Two plays later, Kitna found a wide open Chad Johnson in the end zone for the winning margin. It was a mystery that Johnson, who has a mouth full of gold teeth, could be so wide open.
