With a heavy heart, we say farewell to another wonderful film festival at Lincoln Center.

International cinema circles may be buzzing today about the announced line-up of films at this year's Cannes Film Festival but for those of us who won't be walking the Croisette in May, there's still plenty to be excited about movie-wise. Here's a few suggestions for your moviegoing this weekend.

Even though there are supposed to be some breaks in the rain today, Gothamist is not taking any chances and we're toting our umbrella with us everywhere. We're using a pretty non-descript, navy blue manual umbrella, but if we had our druthers, we'd be using this fantastic Spongebob Squarepants with 3-D handle umbrella. While Tibor Kalman's Sky Umbrella is understated, classy, and telegraphs that you know design, any umbrella that has a goofy face on it will make people smile in the horrid weather, even if you're in an under-the-scaffolding umbrella jousting match (Gothamist will close our umbrella, unless it's raining through the scaffolding). However, many city folk would prefer something like this Totes' Micron, which folds down to be 6 inches, perfect for pockets, purses, and European carryalls. But tomorrow is looking better! Hoorah!

Sisters are doing it for themselves. And when they're as beautiful and fascinating as Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorléac, who's going to complain? In their continuing series devoted to the iconic French actresses and sisters, the French Institute screens this evening Agnès Varda's made to celebrate the film's silver anniversary in 1993.

The Post takes a look at the so–called blog of a prostitute, belledejour-uk.blogspot.com. The blogger, who calls herself Belle de Jour, an homage to the Luis Bunuel film with Catherine Deneuve as a mild housewife turned daytime prostitute, think that of celebrities, Elizabeth Hurley could be a good prostitute while Julia Roberts and Elisabeth Shue should not have played them ("Julia 'Sexless' Roberts"), while other bloggers suspect she's a fraud. The Post also notes that Belle, a 20 something Londoner with a boyfriend, might not be blogging for too long: "It would be a little depressing to be known the rest of your life as the documentarian whore." For her, sure, but come on, aren't we all whoring something?
