             + 1 more

This Columbus Day weekend, the Park Avenue Armory is hosting an indoor Carnival! Yesterday our photographer Katie Sokoler dropped by to check out the 55,000-square-foot space's transformation into a fun house—here are some photos of what it'll look like, including the 50-foot Ferris wheel centerpiece. Carnival's Unsolicited Fax Ads May End Up Costing Millions

He pegs the number at 1,387 unsolicited fax ads, and since the TCPA sets fines at $500 per fax—with triple damages of $1,500 per fax if they're sent knowingly and willfully—Gottlieb could collect millions of dollars in damages! Carnival doesn't deny sending the faxes, but the company says they only sent maybe 540. According to the Staten Island Advance, a ruling on the amount of damages is pending; in the meantime, anybody got a cheap fax machine for sale? more ›

This (Early) Morning's J'Ouvert Parade

Early this morning the J'Ouvert Parade made some noise in Brooklyn. The Daily News had a preview to the tradition earlier this month, saying, the pre-dawn procession provides "the music, the magic and the nitty-gritty of Caribbean carnival." The WIADCA noted on their website, "J'Ouvert is an extremely casual event. Traditionally powder, paint and dye throwing are among the festivities, so it is wise to wear cloths you do not mind getting messy." more ›
