Van Hits Livery Cab, Cab Hits Building, 7 Injured

Sigh. Yesterday afternoon, the Daily News reports, "A livery cab crammed with passengers crashed into a Washington Heights flower shop [at Broadway and West 157th]... when a van filled with seniors hit it." A delivery man for the florist said, "It was chaos out here, total chaos. A white van was coming toward the store to make a left or a U-turn. The van didn't wait for the light and the Town Car came down and hit the van, pushing him up the street, and the Town Car went straight into the store." The van ended up crashed into the center median. Seven people were injured, though not seriously. One lucky person was a female pedestrian, who wasn't hit but her shopping cart was "crushed".

Pedestrian, Waiting for Bus, Fatally Struck by Car

Around 10:40 a.m., a man was struck by a white Honda that apparently jumped a curb at Capodanno Boulevard and Seaview Avenue on Staten Island. The Staten Island Advance reported the man, who had been waiting, was pronounced dead at the Staten Island University Hospital 25 minutes later, and described the incident: "The 19-year-old driver's car apparently jumped the curb after making a turn onto Capodanno from Seaview, pinning the man between the vehicle and a pole that lists the bus schedule." The driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by police—but was not taken into custody.

An elderly woman lost control of her car at 78th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Dyker Heights this morning. The vehicle jumped a curb and hit a number of pedestrians. The victims were taken to Lutheran hospital, two victims have non-life threatening injuries while two others are in serious condition. 1010 WINS adds that there was an 8-year-old child in the car. In another incident in Brooklyn, a 91-year-old woman was killed by a n 18-wheeler while she was trying to cross an intersection.

An out-of-control car jumped a curb on Centre Street and mowed down three pedestrians outside the State Supreme Court. According to NY1, the car "crashed into a coffee cart and continued up several steps of the courthouse," where one man was pinned under the car.
