Yikes! This photograph of a mangled car is what happened to WCBS 2 reporter Pablo Guzman. The WCBS 2 website says Guzman only suffered a broken rib and "wants everyone to know that the only reason he's alive is because he was wearing his seatbelt" but "Details of what caused the crash are not yet known. The Journal News has some details: Guzman was involved in a one-car accident on the Cross County Parkway, apparently......

The deaths of two firefighters shook Bostonist this week. Boston's firefighters bent over backwards all week long - first, they fought flames pouring from the Boston Tea Party museum, and then a restaurant fire killed two and injured many more. Their efforts make everything else - like Tom......

NJ Governor Jon Corzine told reporters that he will not use his e-mail anymore as NJ Republicans have filed a lawsuit demanding that Corzine's e-mails with ex-girlfriend and NJ union leader Carla Katz be made public. Corzine said, "We’ll go back to the 1920s, and have direct conversations with people." We'll guess his staff is also getting him books on Morse Code, smoke signals, and sending messages in bottles. Now that Corzine's getting healthy after......

The tragic death of Firefighter Daniel Pujdak, who fell four stories while responding to a fire in Bushwick, has been deemed a terrible accident. But now there are some questions about the factory building that had been illegally allowing artists to live and work there. The NY Times' Lawrence Altman, a reporter who is also a doctor, writes about NJ Governor Corzine's medical treatment after his April 12 car accident. For any medical procedure (or procedural) buffs, it's an illuminating look at how medical professionals react to treating high-profile medical figures all while just trying to do the best job they can. For instance, Cooper University Hospital's chief trauma orthopedist was watching the Phillies-Mets game at his home in Philadelphia......

Senators 3, Devils 2: Scott Gomez's pair of goals couldn't save the Devils, who went out of the NHL Playoffs with a whimper by losing the conference semifinals series in five games. New Jersey just couldn't light the lamp enough in this series, and Martin Brodeur wasn't the best netminder. That title belongs to Ray Emery, who made 27 saves Saturday despite being in a car accident the day before. Ask any Devils fan if......

When NJ Governor Jon Corzine was critically injured in a car accident two weeks ago, a commenter wrote, "Obviously, God wants Codey to be governor," referring to Richard Codey, the NJ Senate majority leader (pictured) who has served as acting governor under the three past NJ governors. And, apparently, so does Corzine himself: The NY Times has an article about how Corzine was often not in NJ before being injured.:In the 450 days between his......

NJ Governor Corzine showed the Associated Press that he's doing pretty well, sitting up (in red track pants, which is rather Fidel-ish) and reading his many get well cards. These are the first photographs of Corzine since he was in a car accident that left him critically injured and with 15 broken bones. Earlier this week, Corzine was still stuck in bed, but now he's able to leave bed and sit up. The cards......

Snow Cake (directed by Marc Evans): A diagnosis of autism is usually characterized by a person having impaired social interaction, impaired communication and restricted or repetitive interests. The autistic character Sigourney Weaver plays in the festival favorite and new release this week, Snow Cake, has some of these traits but not others. She hates people except for her new friend Alex Hughes (Alan Rickman) and she must do her tidying rituals in the kitchen whether......

There's always some sort of trouble in West Chelsea. Last night, two off-duty police officers were assaulted by a group around 4AM. Officers Richard Lomax and Robert DeFazio, friends who both graduated from the Police Academy last year, were in a Ford Explorer that apparently slid on ice at West 28th Street and 10th Avenue. They rear-ended a Nissan Maxima, whose driver and passengers were not happy: Lomax, who was driving, and DeFazio got out......

James Brown's death yesterday, to many, was more than a loss of "the hardest working man in show business". Reverend Al Sharpton, who toured with him in the 70s and will lead his funeral services, says Brown was the father he never had. On top of that Brown also helped Sharpton become a civil rights leader, after Brown's son (a friend of Sharpton's) died in a car accident. Sharpton stated yesterday to a crowd......
