After a Staten Island teen died from injuries sustained when she stepped in front of a bus, her relatives said that relentless bullying from classmates at New Dorp High School drove her to suicide. But a source close to an investigation into Amanda Cummings' death tells the Post, "No one had any previous signs of her being bullied."
Cops Don't Think SI Teen Was Bullied To Death
Amanda Cummings' Grieving Mother To Bullies, "I Hope You Die And I Hope You Suffer"
The family of the Staten Island teen who died after being hit by a bus continues to rail against the girl's bullies online and in the press. “This is to all you evil son of a bitches that picked on, talked about and threatened my baby,” heartbroken mother Cece Weber wrote on her daughter’s Facebook page. After Driving Gay Teen To Suicide, Bullies Cheer His Death
Last week, a 14-year-old boy who was bullied because of his sexuality was found dead of an apparent suicide. The death of Jamey Rodemeyer, who had recorded a striking "It Gets Better" video months before, has provoked an outpouring of sympathy for the family, and support for anti-bullying laws. But according to Jamey's parents, the bullies who allegedly drove Jamey to suicide are still harassing the family and defiling Jamey's memory.
Lady Gaga Pays $38,500 To Meet President Obama
After declaring last week that she wanted to meet President Obama to discuss bullying, Lady Gaga did in fact meet him last night—after paying $38,500 to attend a fundraiser held at Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's home in Silicon Valley. A pool report from the event says, "At 8:03 p.m. Lady Gaga entered ... delicately walking on sky-high heels (she towered over everyone, a good 2 feet taller than POTUS)."
Lady Gaga Wants To Meet With Obama To Talk Bullying
This week, a 14-year-old boy who recorded an "It Gets Better" video earlier this year was found dead of an apparent suicide. Jamey Rodemeyer dedicated one of his final messages to his hero, Lady Gaga: "Thank you Lady Gaga. For everything you have done for me. Paws up forever." Gaga has now responded to Jamey's tragic death by vowing to meet with President Obama to discuss bullying laws: "I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey."

What do I have to do so people will listen to me?" he wrote on his Tumblr on September 9th. You can watch his tragic "It Gets Better" video below:
Bronx Mom Arrested After Giving Pregnant Daughter Mace To Fight School Bullies
A Bronx mother and daughter were arrested yesterday after it came out that the mother gave the 17-year-old girl pepper spray to use against bullies at her high school. Tracy Morales, 38, is accused of giving her four months pregnant daughter Clerissa Loucks a canister of pepper spray and encouraging her to use it. "Three females jumped her and beat her up so badly in the cafeteria the ambulance had to be called. I'd give her the Mace again," Morales defended herself.
Tyler Clementi's Roommate Moves For Dismissal In Light Of New Evidence
Dharun Ravi, the former roommate of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi, is requesting that charges of intimidation, invasion of privacy, and evidence tampering among others be dismissed based on new evidence submitted by his defense team that paints a more complicated picture of their relationship leading up to Clementi's September 22 suicide.
Teen's "Club" Outfit, Tattoos And Bra Strap Infuriate Judge
Last spring, five Brooklyn high school girls were accused of beating up a fellow classmate with a padlock-in-a-sock. The victim, Shacara McLaurin, said that the vicious beating was fueled by jealousy over an upcoming talent show. Today, one of those alleged attackers, Chazmia Morrison, didn't do herself any favors while appearing in Brooklyn Supreme Court —she came off as such a "brat" that the judge decided to rescind her no-jail plea deal!
Queens Teenager Brandishes Fake Uzi To Classmates
We remember that high school was tough, but even if you're not allowed to go to the prom, bringing a fake uzi to school is never a good idea (except on "Bring Your Uzi To School Day"). A freshman at Flushing High School "brandished a realistic- looking toy Uzi" and told classmates that he was going to "start shooting." After students called their parents from their cellphones, authorities "canvassed the school" and found the disgruntled kid, and The Daily News reports that cops have arrested the boy and he's being tried as a juvenile.
Teen Talent Show Gets Ugly: Brooklyn Girl Viciously Beaten By Classmates
Last year, nine Massachusetts teens were hit with a variety of felony charges after they cyber-bullied a girl who committed suicide. But when NYC teens want to bully each other, they skip the computer and go straight for the padlock inside a sock. Five Brooklyn high school girls are accused of beating up a fellow classmate in a Glee-Gone-Wrong attack: "I wasn't able to open my jaw. I wasn't able to talk. I wasn't able to sing," said 17-year-old victim Shacara McLaurin.
"Kick Me" Sign Gets 9-Year-Old Suspended for Two Days
Late last month, a bloodthirsty nine-year-old thug encouraged his classmates to violently assault a student at an Upper East Side school, by taping a sign that said "Kick Me" to the child's back. The unidentified tormentor got off easy with just a two day suspension, but now his mother is complaining to the NY Post that her little angel was punished too severely. But let's face it: today it's a Kick Me sign, tomorrow it's atomic wedgies, and by Junior High he's running a cock fighting ring behind the bike racks. And besides, the Education Department's strict anti-bullying rules leave administrators no choice but to make an example of the miscreant.
Tyler Clementi's Parents Plan To Sue Rutgers
The parents of Tyler Clementi, the 18-year-old Rutgers student who committed suicide after finding out that his roommate had seen footage of him sexually engaged with another man, have reportedly filed notice to sue Rutgers for failing to implement or enforce policies that they believe would have saved their son. That includes judging how the school handled emails from Clementi complaining about his roommate, Dharun Ravi, and his apparent request for a new roommate.
Paterson Signs Anti-Bullying Act, Admits Hitting Bully
Yesterday, Governor Paterson signed the Dignity for All Students bill into law. The law requires school districts to make their environments harassment- and discrimination-free (by way of codes of conduct and policies) as well as reporting instances of bullying to the State Department of Education. Paterson said, "Bullying and harassment have disrupted the education of too many young people, and we in government have a responsibility to do our part to create learning environments that help our children prosper. I am proud to sign this bill into law as it will help ensure that students are protected from harassment, discrimination and bullying at school grounds and at school functions."
DOE Won't Put Bullied 7th Grader In a Different School
After taking beatdowns that put him in the hospital, special needs student Kimquan Green wants out of Middle School 142 in the Bronx. Though two of the boys who punched and kicked the 14-year-old on June 1st have been suspended, he still doesn't want to return. His mom, Roberta Green, told the Daily News, "He's scared. He doesn't like to fight. The school is just no good. I can't send my children there." But the Department of Education has apparently been dragging its feet.
9 Mass. Teens Charged After Classmate Commits Suicide
As more and more victims of cyber-bullying emerge, authorities are trying to make examples of tormentors. After their classmate's suicide, nine teens in western Massachusetts have been charged with a variety of felony charges that include statutory rape, violation of civil rights with bodily injury, harassment, stalking and disturbing a school assembly.
Violent School Stabbing Was Revenge For Bullying
Yesterday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly stabbing a fellow student 16 times at George Washington High School in Washington Heights. Now, it's suggested that the teen was getting back at the 15-year-old victim because the victim taunted him over his Mexican heritage. A student told the Post, "They made fun of his name and his culture. This is mostly a Dominican school."
Bullied Baby Falcon Is Adorable
Will the pigeon bullying story be a plot line in an upcoming 30 Rock? The NY Post talked to Morgan Pitts, who rescued the baby falcon from the gang of birds in Greenpoint; he's an assistant prop master at the show, and his first course of action was to bring the little one over to Silvercup Studios, where a friend's wife at the Animal Medical Center was called. The American kestrel has been named Alice Cooper for the markings around its eyes (a moniker that's bound to toughen it up), and it's sex is not yet known—one of the vets saying, "I love this bird. He or she is so cute." Agreed.
Facebook Bullying Lawsuit Could Net $3 Million
A freshman at SUNY Albany is suing four former Long Island high school classmates, their parents and Facebook for $3 million for humiliating her in a password-protected page on the social-networking site. Denise Finkel, who graduated from Oceanside High School last year, filed the lawsuit in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, accusing the former classmates of holding her up to "public hatred, ridicule and disgrace" in a private Facebook forum. Though the nasty comments did not identify Finkel by name, her attorney Mark Altschul insists everyone knew exactly who the bullies were talking about when they gossiped about an unidentified teen who supposedly had AIDS and a penchant for bestiality. Altschul tells Newsday, "She had a very difficult time in high school." If Finkel wins, a class-action lawsuit by everyone who ever attended high school could cost the Internet trillions.
