They may have looked a bit unsure of themselves, but the Jets were able to hold on for a much-needed win over divisional rivals the Buffalo Bills this afternoon, 28-24. Putting aside Mark Sanchez's career-high four TD's, perhaps the most notable play of the game came on a touchdown by Bills receiver Steve Johnson. He celebrated a score late in the first half by mocking Jets receiver Plaxico Burress, pretending to shoot himself in the leg. Watch below.

Despite History, Jets Should Have Their Way With Bills
Last season at Giants Stadium, Mark Sanchez played his worst game of his career against the Bills. He threw five interceptions and the Jets lost in overtime. The Jets did manage to win the game "at" Buffalo -- it was played in Toronto -- but the Bills have a recent history of success against the Jets despite a recent history of stinking. This year, the Jets are good enough and the Bills are bad enough that it shouldn't be a problem.

Noteworthy Television This Week: Games Galore
A look at some noteworthy television this week:
With a Thud, Jets Crash Back to Earth
Just as they were riding sky high, the Jets hit a rude speed bump and dropped a 31-13 game at home to the Buffalo Bills. With a pair of defensive mistakes, the Jets allowed two big-play Bills touchdowns, and despite a field goal right to give them some momentum at the end of the first half, the Jets didn't score again in what will likely prove to be a disappointing loss.
Subway Fare: 4th & Union
Upon exiting at the M/R station at the 4th and Union stop we were tempted to pop into Schnack Express, but did not want to risk offending our much appreciated local guides Colin and Kate who spent hours preparing our gastronomical hit list. Soon we were very happy about our restraint - the hit list was very long. Union Street north of the station on 4th Avenue, as well as 5th Avenue south from there, yielded many great places to dine and purchase foodstuff and libations for the homefront.
Ending the Season on a Positive Note
The Jets can finally say that their season is mercifully over. The good news is that they ended it with a 30-26 win over the Buffalo Bills. The bad news is the win moved them to the 4th pick in the NFL Draft behind Houston, New Orleans/San Antonio/etc, and Tennessee. The Jets win was keyed by Justin Miller's 95-yard kickoff return late in the 4th quarter to take the lead. Ty Law, the lone Jets representative in the Pro Bowl, sealed the victory when he intercepted his 3rd pass of the game. Law finishes the season with a career and franchise high 10 INTs.
Building on a Solid Win
Buffalo is also where Chad Pennington first injured his shoulder in last season's 22-17 loss. The game Sunday is also the first of two they play on the road before heading into a bye week. Curtis Martin, who has struggled thus far, has scored 10 career TDs against the Bills. Despite being a little banged up, Martin should have a big day against the NFL's 2nd worst rushing defense.
Jets Fall Into Playoffs, Curtis Takes Title, Wayne May Be Done
Interestingly, the Jets' spot had been assured at some point in the second half of their game, but most players said they were not aware of the Pittsburgh-Buffalo result until they had arrived in the locker room. Say what you want about competitiveness, but it brings up yet another opportunity to second-guess everything, considering it is the norm for playoff-bound teams rest key players in fear of injury.
Jets Beat Selves (or Just Plain Get Beat)
Starting QB Chad Pennington did not return to action after the midway point of the fourth quarter, when he aggravated the right shoulder he had had bruised on a first quarter scramble that resulted in a fumble. Even though the game's outcome had not been completely decided at that point, coach Herm Edwards should be commended for his decision to not risk Pennington's shoulder (and likely the Jets' entire season) when the team has an experienced backup like Quincy Carter ready in the wing. That said, it was a sloppy handoff from Carter to Curtis Martin that resulted in a Buffalo safety late in the game.
J-ets E-scape T-hough (Somewhat) S-loppy
Doug Brien's 38-yard field goal with 58 seconds remaining was the difference, as Chad Pennington went 31-of-42 for 304 yards passing on the afternoon, but nothing bigger than going 7-of-8 for 51 yards on what would be the game's decisive drive. Pennington's fourth quarter interception allowed Buffalo to get back in the game and showedhe is human after all.
Scott Norwood Must Have Plenty of Good Karma By Now
Veteran defensive back and last minute signee Terrell Buckley is being praised as a surprising leadership presence for the Green and White. Bills rookie receiver Lee Evans has the kind of big play potential that teammate Eric Moulds is known for.
