Chimp Mauling Victim Permanently Blinded

After saying last week that they were encouraged by their sister's progress, today the brothers of chimp mauling victim Charla Nash further discussed how she's doing on the Today show. Steve Nash said, "The psychiatrist says she understands a lot about her injuries, but she’s not interested at this time to find out how they occurred... We’re positive all the time we’re with her.... telling her she’s in the best place in the world to help with her injuries, and that she had an accident and we’re going to take care of her." Nash, who lost her nose, lips, eyelids, hands and bone structure in her mid-face, is at the Cleveland Clinic; Steve is staying in Cleveland while her twin Mike is in Connecticut, taking care of her 17-year-old daughter. Mike said, "She’s got to know that we’re still here for her and there are still a lot of reasons to keep hope there, tell her that that she has a daughter and a future and she needs to be part of it." The Cleveland Clinic says she "has made significant neurological and psychological improvement" but "Full cognitive recovery could take up to a year" and many surgeries are planned.

Brothers Behind Village Muggings Finger Each Other

The two men arrested last month for a series of muggings that sent residents of the West Village into a panic were in court yesterday where it was revealed that each of them had attempted to shirk off the brunt of the responsibility onto the other when they had been questioned by cops. 30-year-old Anhtony Lindsay and 21-year-old Adam Temple, the pair of Brooklyn men whom the Post calls "half-witted half-brothers," both pleaded not guilty and remain in jail with bail set at $500,000. Lindsay claims the robberies were Temple's idea and swore to cops, "I didn't have the gun," while Temple recounted one of the robberies where "Adam grabbed (the victim), and I went for the purse. She Maced me when I grabbed her bag. We both let go and ran away toward the train station." The men were caught just one night before Christine Quinn was holding a meeting to address the alarming situation that left one woman bloodied with her jaw broken.

Sibling rivalry on Staten Island appears to have gone way, way too far when a 16-year-old allegedly took part in the sodomizing of his 14-year-old brother with a broomstick. The unnamed older brother was the second teen arraigned in the attack, following 16-year-old Joseph LaValle earlier in the week. The group of up to six teens "pantsed" the boy before inserting the broom into his rectum. To add insult to injury, as a result of the incident, the victim now has to wear a colostomy bag. At the arraignment, the 16-year-old was issued a limited order of protection stipulating that the he have no "illegal" contact with his brother and was placed the suspect under a 6 pm curfew.

The fatal shooting outside Radio Perfecto restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue between 118th and 119th Streets was prompted by a bar fight. Twenty-three year-old Delquan Kearns was shot in the head while his brother Stephan Jones, 27, was shot in the arm after they argued with another group of men over a drink around 3AM on Sunday. Their mother told the Post, "My sons said they were at the bar and that some guy grabbed one...
