Yesterday Rolling Stone let everyone (well, anyone that still reads Rolling Stone) know the The Raconteurs would be playing a show at the Soho Prada Store last night. Ah, fashion rocks, indeed. So it actually happened, as evidenced by the photo above...did anyone go check it out? Was the audience any more receptive to the band than when they were the house band at the VMA's? One girl confused them with The White Stripes,......

So, if you weren't aware, Jack White got together a new band. A real, full, five-piece band. It's him, a fella you may know named Brendan Benson (who Gothamist interviewed not too long ago) and three of their friends from the band The Greenhornes. And they play this bluesy classic rock sounding stuff. A couple of covers, a lot of songs they wrote together. Standard mid-life crisis fare. You know how you or one......

Thank god the holidays are finally over and bands are getting back into the swing of things. Now we can sell off all our unwanted gifts on eBay (how much do you think we can get for a hypercolor "hip" bible?) and spend the cash on evil rock and roll, which is back with a vengeance in our fine, fine city. Why are secret shows never really a secret? The Mooney Suzuki play in semi-secrecy......

Saturday: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs around 80 degrees. Lows in the low 70s. [via WNBC] Currently the weather isn't looking so great for tomorrow's Siren Festival. The image accompanying the forecast looks downright terrifying, but the actual forecast seems alright. We ain't scared of no thunderstorms! Look at it this way, a little rain will thin the crowd out and make the lines shorter. Not to mention cool us......

What a disaster yesterday was. After prominently featuring the Cloud Cult show at Knitting Factory last week, it ends up the show was never actually happening. If you bought tickets, contact Knitting Factory and/or Ticketweb and get your money back. The good news: we wouldn't have been able to talk about Cloud Cult on Gothamist otherwise, so hopefully you discovered a great new band (still haven't listened?). It's Siren time again. Every year the Village......

We've all been waiting for the Village Voice Siren Fest '05 lineup here at Gothamist HQ. And finally, the first big names are being released (even thought the site hasn't been updated as of yet): The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, is excited to announce the initial line-up for the 5th Annual Village Voice SIREN MUSIC FESTIVAL(tm) at Coney Island on Saturday, July 16th from 12:00 noon - 9:00 p.m. Scheduled performers......

Since this seems to be hard to grasp for some we just want to reiterate that this post is just to let you know that we've noticed a few tickets that are on sale for shows that we believe may sell out. We won't be repeating any ticket listings we posted last time, so you may want to give that list a once over as well. Also, we put a $ sign next to overpriced......
