To qualify as a Kick Ass Summer Sipper (K.A.S.S.) you need to meet three criterion. First, you must be refreshing and cold. Crisp is also good. Second, you must have layers and flavor and personality. And finally, you need to be cheap. The last one is perhaps the most important being that the objective of these wines are to be casual, quaffable and enjoyable – particularly out of a plastic cup (good plastic of course).

A Talk With Wes Anderson

Gothamist has loved Wes Anderson and his films even since we saw Dignan's Five Year Plan in Bottle Rocket, so we're happy to announce that Touchstone Films has given us twenty-five tickets to a screening of Wes Anderson's new film, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, starring Bill Murray. And we're holding a contest to give them away!!

5:40: Bored by the paper, I sidle up to the Howes, an Australian couple on their way to France. I ask Mr. Howe if I can borrow his book. He says, "When I saw you walk out here, I told my wife, 'What's this nutter doing?' But you seem like a nice guy." Emboldened, I ask to borrow $10. He hands me a $20.
6:12: I move closer to the boarding area, where Joy Mistele, 49, offers me a piece of her Nature Bar. I tell her I'm on standby. "That's good," she says, "because I thought you'd lost your mind. Either that or you were on your way to L.A."
6:50: I line up for my flight, but the ticket-taker informs me there's no room. Otherwise, he's unfazed by my appearance. (Security ... ha!) Gothamist likes how the Post makes its reporters act like like a crime family boss. It's all well and good, but let's face it, no one really expects to live in an airport, let alone be there for 24 hours. Whenever Gothamist sees the people stranded at the airport because of snowstorms, it doesn't look so fun.

- L.A. Times reports: "Designer Tara Subkoff's Hollywood connections must rival Kevin Bacon's. Reese Witherspoon came out to support the designer who was once her roommate. And Wes Anderson, Subkoff's current beau, was able to reel in pals Anjelica Huston, Jason Schwartzman, Sheryl Crow and Owen Wilson."

Hipsters and indie rock fans (Gothamist is not sure if these are the same people; working on the Venn diagram), rejoice: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart is on DVD today. The Sam Jones directed documentary of Wilco recording Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was critically well-received. But of course, you hipsters and indie rock fans don't care and already know the documentary is good.
