The Affair of the Telfair Necklace

The Affair of the Telfair Necklace

Boston Celtics player and Brooklyn native Sebastian Telfair continues to deny he had anything to do with Fabolous shooting's outside of Justin's earlier this week. Earlier, the Post reported that Telfair's $50,000 necklace was stolen two hours before Fabolous was shot and a witness heard Telfair call someone "to take care" of it. Supposedly Telfair was just calling to ask for an escort because he was concerned about his and his fiancee's safety - i.e. the call wasn't a hit. more ›

Quick Hits: Coney Island Style

Quick Hits: Coney Island Style

- Cliff Floyd has come back to New York and is playing baseball. He's just playing in Brooklyn and not Queens. The Mets right fielder is making a rehab start for the Cyclones tonight in Coney Island. Maybe the presence of a Major Leaguer will help the Cyclones win their 2nd game of the season. The Mets' single-A affiliate finally broke through last night in a 4-0 win against the Hudson Valley Renegades. Tickets are still available for the 7 p.m. game. more ›

Nets Make Playoffs; Shaq To Eat NJ Soon

So, they're in. After a pretty rough season, the Nets managed at the very, very last moment to grab the #8 spot in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs. They accomplished this last night with a huge 3rd quarter rally to beat the Boston Celtics 102-93. Cleveland also won their contest in Toronto last night, but since the Nets had the tiebreaker, Cleveland got nothing and promptly fired everyone. more ›

Celtics' Mouths Write Checks Their Bodies Can't Cash, and Knicks End Up Top Guns

Wow! Two nights after beating the Spurs, the Knicks took it to the Boston Celtics with authority last night. The Celtics trash-talked through the first quarter, earning technical fouls along the way, and the Knicks responded with perhaps their best game of the season in a 107-82 demolition at the Garden. This is even more impressive when you know that Boston has an 11-1 (well, now 11-2) record since trading for Antoine Walker last month. more ›

Is Wilkens A Dead Man Coaching?

Isiah Thomas made perhaps the first move in what figures to be a series of unfortunate events for current Knicks head coach Lenny Wilkens by sacking assistant coach Dick Helm. Helm, a longtime Wilkens assistant, was the only assistant on the staff not handpicked by Thomas. His replacement is Brendan Suhr, a longtime Thomas compatriot. more ›

Knicks Offseason Preview

Knicks Offseason Preview

Unlike the Nets, this figures to be a relatively slow offseason for the Knicks. New GM Isiah Thomas already spent much of the season turning over the roster and trading away anyone associated with deposed GM Scott Layden. Only Allan Houston, Shandon Anderson, Frank Williams, Kurt Thomas, Mike Sweetney and Othella Harrington remain from opening day. more ›
