"Suspicious": Body Found On West 4th Street

Last night around 10:45 p.m., there were initial reports of a jumper at West 4th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. But now the Daily News explains a man's body was found under a construction vehicle in front of the Duane Reade on West 4th (between Broadway and Mercer), "his mouth bound with duct tape." The victim appeared to be in his 20s or 30s. The News adds, "Police investigating the circumstances of the death swarmed the scene and nearby condominium buildings. A cop described the death as 'suspicious.'" more ›

Bags Containing Woman's Body Found In Bronx Alley

Yesterday, police found a woman's body, wrapped in plastic bags, in an alley off Walton Avenue in the Bronx. According to the Daily News, "A woman called police to say her boyfriend had helped get rid of a body outside the Walton Ave. apartment building... The tipster told cops she had a guilty conscience and said her boyfriend had confessed to her that he helped another man dump the body." The ME's office will determine cause of death and the Post says the victim was apparently a Jehovah's Witness who lived with her mother in the building. The News reports that it seems the victim had been dead for a few days, adding that the super "said he used Clorox to clean the Morris Heights building's elevator after tenants complained about a smell. Body Found at McCarren Park Pool

Just in from the newswire, there's a "suspicious death" being reported at McCarren Park Pool, allegedly at the building that serves as an entrance. The person was found "DOA by event staff" earlier this morning. Last night Twelve Ophelias, a play centered around Hamlet's Ophelia coming back to life, was staged there; the night before there was a screening of The Virgin Suicides. All in all, a dark week for McCarren. Thus far, multiple calls to the Precinct have gone unanswered. more ›
