After US armed forces found and killed Osama bin Laden, they reportedly buried his body at sea. And though the Telegraph says bin Laden's body was treated "according to Islamic custom, which would have meant it being washed and shrouded by Muslims," the watery burial was most likely done to avoid a shrine to the terrorist being built around his grave. However, the Post spoke to some New Yorkers with their own ideas about how bin Laden's burial should have gone. Here are some choice quotes:
New Yorkers Fantasize About What They'd Do With Bin Laden's Body

A body found in Yorktown Heights has been identified as missing Bronx woman Tina Adovasio. Tourists Welcomed To New York By Dead Body
A group of tourists exited to see the city skyline from the air over the Hudson river got a slightly grittier view when they spotted a dead body floating off South Street Seaport from their helicopter tour. Manhattan Helicopters employee Angel Gonzalez said, “It looked like a bag of trash."
Video: Man Dragging Suitcase With Dead Woman's Body
After the horrifying discovery of a woman's body stuffed into a suitcase left on East 114th Street across from Thomas Jefferson Park (a passer-by noticed a foot sticking out early yesterday morning), surveillance video has emerged of a man dragging a suitcase down the very same street. The video (below) shows a man walking down the street, pulling the suitcase, but then pauses a few times as people walk by or to wipe his face. The person who provided the video told the Post, "He's got a body in his suitcase and he's just standing there like nothing's going on. I freaked out when I saw that... It's f--ked up. [He's] just standing there."
Woman's Leg Found Sticking Out Of Harlem Suitcase
Police are currently investigating a Harlem neighborhood after a passerby found a dead woman stuffed into a suitcase near Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem. Around 12:15 a.m. the witness saw a leg sticking out of the bag, and police said she looks to be black and in her 20s or 30s. She was also found to have head trauma, but a medical examiner will determine the official cause of death. Police have yet to release the woman's identity.
Body Kept On Ice For Months As Family Blocks Cremation
The body of a 105-year-old woman has reportedly been kept on ice at the Gramercy Park Memorial Chapel because her grandnephew James Pollock refuses to let her be cremated. Ethel Baar asked to be cremated in her 1999 will, but Pollock says that "Jewish religion forbids cremation," according to court papers. Now the funeral home is asking a judge for help in figuring out what to do with Baar's body. "Ms. Baar's remains are not embalmed, and have been maintained in a refrigeration unit for a prolonged time period," funeral home lawyer Peter Shapiro wrote in court papers. "The passage of time has an inevitable impact on the remains."
Family Pleads For Return Of Stolen Cadaver
Relatives of Mattia Filippazzo, whose cadaver was stolen from its mausoleum under mysterious circumstances last week, put out another desperate plea for any information on the whereabouts of her body. "Her eternal peace has been disrupted by these...animals," said one relative on WABC 7 yesterday.
Police Confused By Body-Stealing Grave Robbers
A family is devastated and police are utterly confused after grave robbers broke into a mausoleum, stealing the remains of a woman who died 12 years ago. Suffolk County police say Mattia Filippazzo's body was removed from St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, L.I.—while her husband's body was left in the crypt—between Monday night and Tuesday morning. "They took her and not him? I don't understand anything," the Filippazzos' daughter-in-law, Louise, said to the Daily News, cursing the thieves in Italian.
Body Found In Harlem River ID'd As Missing Party Goer
A body found in the Harlem River yesterday was identified as that of a woman who fell into the river on Sunday morning. WABC 7 reports that police pulled "the body of 20-year-old Anjelina Wills...from the water near Roberto Clemente State Park." Willis had attended a barbecue party with at least 100 other guests near the river at 147th Street; when the 20-year-old fell in, other partygoers jumped into the water to try to rescue her but were unsuccessful. Earlier this week, party's host told the Daily News, "No one knew who she was. I don't know who she was here with. She probably had some drinks and fell... She really didn't look like she could swim. I feel so sorry."
Kidnapped Man's Body May Have Been Found
Police believe they have found the body of Martin Caballero, who vanished after dropping his family off at the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. The body, found near Hamilton Township, was discovered by a local farmer. E-ZPass records show Caballero's car had exited the Atlantic City Expressway on Exit 12, and re-entered the same exit about 70 minutes later. Cabellero's car was later found burned in Camden County. The body's identity has not been confirmed yet, but Caballero's neighbor said, "We were hoping they would find him alive."
Dead Man Found in Landing Gear of NY to Tokyo Flight
The body of a man whom investigators believe may have been a stowaway was found in one of the landing gear compartments of a plane in Tokyo. Last night a mechanic found the man's body while performing maintenance on the Boeing 777-200; the plane had originated in New York as Delta Flight 59. There's little information about the dead man, who has been identified only as a 5'7" male with dark skin, clothed in a long-sleeved plaid shirt and jeans. The area he was found in is inaccessible from the inside of the plane, and does not have any air conditioning or pressurization.
Mutant-Fingered Dead Man Found On Plum Island
Since Plum Island gave us the Montauk Monster (unsubstantiated!), it's only fair that they get something in return. On that note, the Daily News reports that a tall, white male with extremely long fingers has washed up on the medical testing site's shore. A security guard discovered the partially decomposed body yesterday in a restricted access area, and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, but no trauma was noticed. Conspiracy theorists: maybe the long-fingered man didn't wash up on the shore, maybe he was trying to escape!
Cops Refute Gruesome Details in Yale Student Murder
Please do heed the word "gruesome" before deciding whether to read further. Seriously. Police sources have told the Post that the body of slain Yale graduate student Annie Le was horrifically broken and mangled in order to fit through a wall opening the size of a computer screen. The corpse was found in a utility space in a bathroom wall near the basement lab where Le had been working the day she vanished.
Cleaning Lady Found in Office Air Duct Died of Asphyxia
More grisly details have emerged from an investigation into the murder of Eridania Rodriguez, a 46-year-old cleaning woman who vanished during her shift at 2 Rector Street Tuesday night and was found dead at the building Saturday morning. After futilely searching a Pennsylvania landfill for her remains, some 100 officers returned to the building Saturday to search the building from top to bottom. The corpse of a woman strongly believed to be Rodriguez was found in an air duct on the 12th floor, which was under construction and had restricted access.
Charred Body Found on Bronx Rooftop
A Bronx neighborhood was shocked by the discovery of human remains on the roof of an apartment building. Acting on a family's missing person report for their daughter, the police headed to an apartment on Marion Avenue in the afternoon and found blood in the bathroom. Then, WCBS 2 reports, "Police found [a] woman's burned body on the roof, there was no attempt to conceal it and that the arms and legs of the unidentified victim had been cut off and removed from the scene. So far, the limbs have not been recovered by crime scene technicians." It is feared the missing woman, Paulemont Manuella, and the murder victim are the same person. The police took the missing woman's boyfriend in for, per NY1, violating an order of protection against Manuella. One resident told NY1, "I'm sad. Something like that shouldn't happen to any human being. Regardless of how much you despise them or have problems or relationship issues or whatever."
Man's Body Found in Bag in the Bronx
Police say that on Sunday morning, the body of 22-year-old John Hopkins-Drago was found by a super at 2161 Barnes Avenue in the Bronx. Hopkins-Drago had been stabbed—a police source told the Daily News, "He was stabbed at least 40 or 50 times in the head, neck, and chest"—and his body had been put in a plastic bag. WCBS 2 quoted a neighbor: "They found the body in a shopping cart, chopped up, right here in the back of this building." Hopkins-Drago was reportedly estranged from his family; when the News called relatives for comment, they "quickly hung up the phone." The victim, who was seen on Saturday, may have been recently kicked out of a friend's apartment. Police are looking for suspects.
Airline Loses Corpse for Four Days!
After Miguel Olaya's wife lost her battle to pelvic cancer on March 28th, he made arrangements with a Bay Ridge funeral home to send the remains to their native Ecuador. Then he went ahead to make the funeral arrangements, but when he arrived at the airport in the city of Guayaquil, he was told that his wife's remains were, uh, lost. Care to guess which airline? Good old American, which has been in the news recently for its baggage issues.
