FBI Goes Back to LI To Dig For Bodies

A corporate park in East Farmingdale, Long Island will have the FBI on its grounds for the third time in two years. According to Newsday, "Sources said this search was for the body of Ralph Greaves, who according to a mob informant was killed and buried there in 1995. Greaves was murdered after family members suspected him of becoming an informant." The FBI looked for Greaves' body twice before—in October 2008, when they found remains of former Colombo underboss William "Wild Bill" Cutolo, and March 2009—but now they have "more precise information." The FBI also looked for the body of Pace student Carmine Gargano in East Farmingdale, but now it's believed Gargano's body has been found in Brooklyn. more ›

That Antony Gormley public art installation, that will most definitely up the 911 call count, is now being installed on rooftops around the city. All in all 31 statues of bodies will be placed on top of buildings near Madison Square Park, including the Flatiron and the Empire State Building. Tombstone Unearthed in Washington Square Park

This past Friday, as construction on Washington Square Park's redesign entered Phase II, a tombstone was unearthed. Dun dun dun. An eagle-eyed reader of the WSP Blog wrote in to that website Friday after "he noticed that there was a large hole dug about 6 feet below the surface in the fenced-off construction area" where two people were seen dusting off the tombstone. FBI Still Searches for Remains on Long Island

Since the middle of last week, the FBI has been digging at an East Farmindale industrial complex, reportedly looking for the remains of three victims of mob hits, including Colombo crime family underboss (and Staten Island resident) William "Wild Bill" Cutolo. But so far, the only bones they've found are non-human bones. Newsday reports that the NYC ME's office determined that the bones were canine, and the FBI is continuing its digs around the site. The two other victims suspected to be buried there are Pace University student, Charles Gargano Jr. (cousin of a Luchese crime family member) and Richard Greaves, suspected of becoming an informant. more ›
