This just in: the New York Dolls are playing the Seaport Music Festival on August 18th.

Brodsky has recalled of the Morrison shoot, "The shot on the inner sleeve of the Greatest Hitsalbum was pretty near the end, I think. By that time, Morrison was so drunk he was stumbling into the lights and we had to stop the session. He wasn't a wild drunk --- actually he was kind of quiet -- but his equilibrium wasn't too terrific. Still, he was great to photograph because he had a very interesting look."

For the past 25 years fans have descended upon Central Park's Strawberry Fields to remember John Lennon on the anniversary of his death. By now, we all know the story...Lennon was gunned down by a deranged fan (Mark David Chapman) just near his home (the Dakota) on the night of December 8th, 1980. Chapman is now eligable for parole next year.

Last month a book visually and textually depicting Lennon's New York City years came out, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of his death and the 65th anniversary of his birth. We've been meaning to mention this book, but we're still trying to watch the rest of Dylan's No Direction Home and got a little sidetracked.

Last night we were told that the Secret Machines were playing a (secret?) show at the Apple Store in Soho at 10pm. We didn't go, and haven't heard a thing about it. Did it happen, was anyone there? We need closure.
