Letterman Continues No Kiss-On-The-Cheek Policy With Lady Guests

Nearly a week after admitting that he was the target in a $2 million extortion plot—and admitting he had sex with female staffers of the Late Show—David Letterman refrained from joking about the scandal last night. The Post noted, "Instead, he joked that it’s more fun to drive a jeep into a tree than read Sarah Palin’s new memoir."

Former Letterman Intern-Lover: "I Was Madly In Love With Him"

Now that David Letterman has told American about having sexual relationships with female staffers—because a 48 Hours news producer was allegedly trying to extort him for $2 million—details about those staffers and trysts continue to come out of the woodwork. In fact, one former intern told TMZ, "I was madly in love with him at the time. I would have married him. He was hilarious."

Suspected Extortionist's Threats Mentioned Letterman's Son

Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau revealed details of the charges against the CBS producer accused of extorting David Letterman for $2 million—and added, "The message of this indictment should be clear. New York City will not tolerate the coercion or extortion of anyone, be the victim rich or poor, famous or anonymous." That's a good policy!

Video: Letterman Explains Sex-Extortion Plot

Below is video of David Letterman explaining to his talk audience—and the rest of America—about how he was extorted for $2 million or else his sexual relationships with female Late Show staffers would be revealed. About 7 minutes 25 seconds in, Letterman explains what the "creepy stuff" in the blackmail package was: "The creepy stuff was that I have had sex with women who work for me on this show."

Lawyer Arrested After Internet Blackmail Sex Scheme Goes Wrong

All tax attorney Steven Klig (allegedly!) wanted was that special feeling of empowerment that comes from blackmailing an ex-lover into sending naked photographs of herself. But then she had to ruin everything by blabbing to the FBI about his demanding e-mails, in which he threatened to post a scandalous video montage of their sexual encounters on the Internet. One such email was (allegedly!) sent while the 44-year-old Klig—a partner at finance giant Deloitte—was vacationing with his family at Disney World. (Which, to be fair, can make one creepily horny.) The e-mail, obtained by the Post, goes a little something like, "Just to give you a head's up. I've been doing a little editing on our video. Mostly some blurring of myself so that I won't be recognized. You, on the other hand, can be seen very clearly having the time of your life being f---ed by me." After an investigation, Klig was arrested Monday and charged with extortion, harassment, and generally acting (allegedly!) like a world class scumbag.

A friend described Herbert Simpson, the 30-year-old man nabbed for trying to blackmail Giants coach Tom Coughlin as "slow" and that he was "surprised he could mastermind a plot." Simpson is painted in today's NY Post as an an "overweight, awkward homebody, who lives with his mother." He was arrested Thursday for sending letters to Coughlin pretending to be two women who were former co-workers of Simpson's and would "expose a fictional sexual encounter with Coughlin" if they did not receive $50,000. The two former female co-workers were able to identify the handwriting as that of Simpson, who they said had written threatening letters to others in the past. Simpson is out on bail and has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
