[UPDATE x 2] FOX News: We Found Gawker's Mole

[UPDATE x 2] FOX News: We Found Gawker's Mole

[SECOND UPDATE BELOW] This week, Gawker premiered a new feature giving readers an inside look at News Corp's corporate culture at 1211 Avenue of the Americas via their "newest hire," a person who works for Fox News. Yesterday he/she supplied b-roll footage of Mitt Romney discussing how his wife's Austrian warmbloods were harder to ride than his Missouri fox trotter, and today the Mole wrote of how "oddly low rent" and "soul-crushing" the building is. We suspected that Roger Ailes' goons with Alex Mack-morphing abilities would find the mole, but not this quickly: a Fox News spokesman tells Mediaite, "We've found the person and we're exploring legal options at this time." more ›

Pols Compare Occupy Wall Street To Tea Party, But Republicans Disagree

While the likes of Cornel West, Talib Kweli, Michael Moore, and Mark Ruffalo have all come down to Zuccotti Park in support of Occupy Wall Street, most politicians have been tip-toeing around the mass protest, still trying to figure out what to make of it three weeks after it began. Vice President Joe Biden called it a grassroots political movement yesterday—but added that "there's a lot in common with the Tea Party." And billionaire businessman Mayor Bloomberg agrees. more ›

Millionaire Pizza Mogul Herman Cain: Occupy Wall Street Is A Conspiracy

Millionaire Pizza Mogul Herman Cain: Occupy Wall Street Is A Conspiracy

According to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports, 33 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the Occupy Wall Street protesters (only 27 percent have a negative view, while 40 percent have no opinion). Most importantly, 79 percent of Americans agree with the protesters primary point that the “The big banks got bailed but the middle class got left behind.” But don't tell that to Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, because he thinks the whole thing is a giant pro-Obama conspiracy: "I don't have the facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama Administration," he told the WSJ. At least he admitted there were no facts involved in his statements. more ›

Bill O'Reilly Reportedly Asked Cops To Spy On Cheating Wife At Taxpayer Expense

Bill O'Reilly Reportedly Asked Cops To Spy On Cheating Wife At Taxpayer Expense

Because nobody, not Jon Stewart, not Ludacris, gets one over on Bill O'Reilly, the FOX News host allegedly had the Nassau County Police Department investigate whether his wife was having an affair with a NCPD detective. The internal affairs detective who was tasked with spying on O'Reilly's wife of 15 years, Maureen McPhilmy O'Reilly, tells Gawker's source, "Do you know Bill O'Reilly? I got called into my boss' office saying they wanted me to meet with these two PI's working for O'Reilly …because a detective was having an affair with O'Reilly's wife.'" So while "Obamacare" doesn't require taxpayers to fund abortion, the average citizen on Long Island is paying for the NCPD to investigate O'Reilly's personal problems. more ›

Video: Rep. Charlie Rangel Calls Laura Ingraham "Pretty Girl"

With its namesake on vacation, the O'Reilly Factor has some big, shouty shoes to fill. Who better than Laura Ingraham? And for maximum ratings, Bill's bookers found a nice, corrupt, Congressional barrelfish for yesterday's show. Note to Charlie Rangel: FOX is not the same as a subpoena, you don't actually have to appear on it. more ›

Video: Jon Stewart Debates Common, Fox News' "Selective Outrage Machine" With Bill O'Reilly

The right wing furor over the White House's invitation to rapper Common to perform last week got the Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly treatment, as O'Reilly invited the Daily Show host onto his Fox News program to discuss the issue. Stewart offered his thoughts, as well as his "mad love" for O'Reilly. more ›

Video: Bill O'Reilly Wants to Ally with Jon Stewart

As promised, Bill O'Reilly completed the TV guest prisoner transfer agreement with Jon Stewart and appeared on The Daily Show last night to plug his new book, Pinheads and Patriots. The interview wasn't funny as Stewart's appearance on The O'Reilly Factor last week, in part because Stewart was a much more gracious host, welcoming the Fox host onto his show with music and rose petals. But it's good for a laugh nonetheless, especially then Stewart describes his experience walking out of Fox headquarters, which he calls "The Temple of Doom." Not so funny is O'Reilly cracking wise about killing Stephen Colbert with a Predator drone strike. more ›

Video: Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly Talk Gibberish

It's always good television when Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly yuk it up, and last night was no exception. Stewart surfaced on The Factor last night as part of promotional push for The Daily Show's new book Earth: A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race. O'Reilly, who also has a book coming out, thinks Stewart's has too many pages! "Okay Stewart, why do I have to get a sprained wrist when I buy your book?" O'Reilly asks. "Because I put effort into my books!" Stewart replies. "So this is just nonsense, 200 pages of nonsense? Gibberish?" wonders O'Reilly. "We think a little more highly of it than nonsense," Stewart sniffed. "We feel it's well-crafted satire speaking to the human condition, but okay gibberish is fine." more ›

Video: Sarah Palin Debuts on Fox, Denies Ignorance

A day after news broke that third-place Miss Alaska contestant and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin had signed a multi-year contract to provide political commentary on Fox News, the wolf hunter from Wasilla received a warm welcome from loofah-lover Bill O'Reilly. As a Democratic Party spokesperson quipped, "Not since Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag has there been a couple so well suited for each other." Burn (provided you know who those two are). Of course, Palin was ready to hit back hard at those "pinhead" critics, as O'Reilly calls them: more ›

Lou Dobbs Complains About CNN To Bill O'Reilly

Lou Dobbs Complains About CNN To Bill O'Reilly

Last night, former CNN personality Lou Dobbs appeared on Bill O'Reilly Fox News program to discuss his departure from the cable news network. Dobbs blamed the new guy in the White House—and how CNN doesn't want to rock the boat, "You know, I discern more of a difference between then, which was under the Bush administration whom I was criticizing, and now, when it is the Obama administration and an entirely different tone was taken." more ›

Video: Daily Show Deems Fox News "The New Liberals"

Spurred by the raucous town hall debates about health care, the Daily Show went to the archives to look at the time-honored tradition protesting the president...and wonders about Fox News' sudden transformation in the liberal media! But can it be? Hmm—one of the early examples is Bill O'Reilly saying on August 10 that when Fox News covers the town hall meetings, "We don't describe the protesters as loons"— then there's a September 1, 2004 (in the middle of the Republican National Convention here in NYC) clip of O'Reilly saying, "Surveys show many protesters are simply loons." more ›

O'Reilly Has Rep. King, Rev. Sharpton Discuss Michael Jackson

O'Reilly Has Rep. King, Rev. Sharpton Discuss Michael Jackson

Last night, Bill O'Reilly had two very vocal figures discuss Michael Jackson on his show last night—Rep. Peter King (R-Long Island), who blasted the media attention devoted to a "pedophile" "lowlife", and Rev. Al Sharpton, who told Jackson's children that there was "nothing strange" about their father. First, O'Reilly had King on; O'Reilly pointed out that Jackson was acquitted of molestation charges and that settling the other case "doesn't mean you're admitting anything" (which the talk show host knows about first hand). King responded:

Bill, I would say an adult male who sleeps with young boys is a child molester. If nothing else, he's molesting and abusing their psyche. How are those children going to possibly grow up normal after spending nights in bed with Michael Jackson? So — and I would say also there's not a daycare center in the United States that would be allowed to hire him... more ›

Fellas, Hide Your Loofahs: FoxNews Tweets O'Reilly is Gay

Fellas, Hide Your Loofahs: FoxNews Tweets O'Reilly is Gay

In what appears to be the work of a hacker, Silicon Alley Insider reports that the Fox News Twitter account recently posted the following "tweet": "Breaking: Bill O Riley is gay". While the link itself has already been taken down, a quick trip over to O'Reilly's home page reveals some possibly related clues. In the "O'Links Around the World" section, the top link earlier was "New York Times Writer Admits to Being a Sex Addict," which forwarded readers to this week's Modern Love column, which dealt with the casual encounters of a young gay man. Then in the backstage video posted on the site, O'Reilly responds to a viewer's inquiry saying that there is a "zero percent" chance of seeing Richard Simmons on his show. Why, you ask? "The short pants? it just doesn't work on the Factor. Short pants—it frightens me." While O'Reilly himself doesn't appear to post updates on Twitter, here's a list of the almost 70 feeds coming from NY Times staff members—most, if not all of whom have not been hit with graphic sexual harassment suits. more ›

Rumor: Rudy to Radio (Can We Ask About Ferrets?)

Rumor: Rudy to Radio (Can We Ask About Ferrets?)

If you believe Page Six, then you might believe that Rudy Giuliani may be headed to the radio. Bill O'Reilly is going to be ending his radio show to focus on Fox News, so... "Now, Page Six has learned the leading candidate to succeed him is Rudy Giuliani (above). Westwood One, which syndicates the O'Reilly show, is negotiating with the former mayor." more ›

Nas Protests Fox News Over Racist Coverage

Nas Protests Fox News Over Racist Coverage

Hip-hop star Nas, along with other protesters, were at the Fox News Channel yesterday, delivering over 620,000 petition signatures and charging the cable network offered racist coverage. Nas said, "Fox poisons the country with racist propaganda and tries to call it news," pointing at how Fox personalities called Michelle Obama a "baby mama," and added, "But the Obamas aren't the only targets. Fox's pattern of race-baiting and fear-mongering regularly focuses on black leaders, black institutions and ordinary black people." And he explained why he worked with the website ColorofChange.org to protest the channel:

"The organization saw me as someone who could be a part of it, and they reached out. I was like, 'Hell yeah, I'm a part of it!' This is a network that's been going after rappers ... yet Bill O'Reilly uses the phrase 'lynching party' for a woman. That's the worst term I've ever heard to disrespect a woman, and he says it on television. And he doesn't like rappers? Wow."
In turn, Fox News said, "Fox News believes in all protesters exercising their right to free speech including Nas who has an album to promote." Nas also appeared on The Colbert Report last night. Before his interview with the Nas (who explained the controversial original name for his upcoming album), Stephen Colbert had gave some background to the feud between Colbert and O'Reilly. Jesse Jackson's Hot Mic Mess

Fox News captured the Reverend Jesse Jackson criticizing presidential candidate Barack Obama, saying, "See, Barack's been talking down to black people ... I want to cut his nuts off." Jackson was appearing on this past Sunday's Fox & Friends and was speaking to UnitedHealth Group's Reid Tuckson, a fellow guest--but didn't realize his mic was still on. Tonight, Bill O'Reilly aired the clip, and added that Fox News has "more damaging" audio of Jackson, but it's classy like that. more ›
