Bright n' early this morning Britney Spears continued her "comeback kid" routine with an appearance on Good Morning America. Not only is today her 27th birthday, but it's also the release of her 6th album, titled Circus. As part of the promotional package, on Sunday MTV aired a no-holds-barred infomercial documentary about the singer, where even Madonna made a cameo to talk up the pop starlet's new lease on life. Yesterday Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise, Suri Cruise, and the Beckham clan were spotted leaving the Big Apple Circus. Aw, just look at that adorable little Suri, she's just cute as a button, yes she is, just look at her thetan glow...quick, put Tom Cruise's teenaged children (their mom is Nicole Kidman) in the back so they don't get in the way of this adorable moment.
The Big Apple Circus is an institution. So is the New York Stock Exchange. But given these times, was it appropriate for Grandma the Clown to ring the opening bell? (Video here.) It's that time of year again, when pumpkins take center stage. The Parks Department is taking the big orange gourds seriously with Camp Sunshine's First Annual Pumpkin Festival on Saturday. There will be a pumpkin patch, farmer's market, puppets, and entertainment like the Big Apple Circus and Chris Barron. All proceeds will go towards Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families
THEATER: According to industry rag Variety, playwright Kristine Thatcher “has been deservedly attracting international attention. [Her] latest, Among Friends, is a whimsical and provocative deconstruction of hetero male bonding." The story goes like this: “Three old friends gather as often as possible to play poker. Matt is a struggling Sears appliance salesman; Will, a public school teacher; and Dan, a real-estate developer and award-winning humanitarian.
