New Venue Alert: Berry Park

Rejoice Williamsburg residents, there's finally a music venue coming to your neighborhood. Okay, so maybe it's already saturated with sonic dens of slack, but why not add one more...with a roof! Eater has been on top of the goings-on at 4 Berry Street since March, and reports that the new venue/bar/restaurant/roof deck should be open by June (they'll be hosting a Northside Festival show in mid-June). "One of the owners tells us that they will have a large selection of European beers with an emphasis on their German selection and will serve 'beer infused menu items.' The lower level is 35,000 sq. ft. but the big focus here will be the 3,000 sq. ft. roof." Most recently they noted the roof fencing was in, and the bar is being built. To top it all off, it's under 450 feet away from the Gutter! [via Brooklyn Vegan]

Hipster haven Williamsburg is about to get a new venue, but it won't be for the skinny jean set...unless they ironically attend? Oh, who can keep up anymore! This is pretty interesting news though, Opera Oggi New York will be reopening MacCaddin Memorial Hall Theater at 288 Berry Street (between South 2nd and South 3rd Streets). The 600 seat theater has a "50 foot proscenium arch raked stage and a balcony, plenty of fly space with classic brick and wood and plaster construction has been found." Rehearsals are already underway, with performances of L'Oracolo by Leone on November 6th and 7th. More details here. [via Williamsburg is Dead]

The New York Times is reporting that...Williamsburg has high rent. Shocking. Apparently this "Bedford Avenue" is getting pretty popular.

Hungry for some good gluten, Gothamist booked it to the three-month-old Kate’s Brooklyn Joint in Williamsburg, an outpost of the East Village mainstay.
